Thinking of organizing a comp in the northern Virginia area. Would I need to buy a bunch of timers and mats for this?

Regional cubing organizations have their own supplies of timers, mats, displays, cube covers, etc. that delegates look after and bring to competitions, so you wouldn't need to ever fund your own timers and core competition materials.

You can contact mid Atlantic delegates (they have all the stuff you need so you don’t need to bring anything extra on the day of the comp). Mid Atlantic delegates (and delegates in general) are super chill so yeah
