I'm having a lot of trouble performing the M2 moves in the H and Z permutations. I've been using these algorithms:

H: M2 U M2 U2 M2 U M2
Z: M2 U M2 U M U2 M2 U2 M U2

I might consider swapping to algorithms without M2 moves but none of those look suitable and M2 moves seem quite fast when they are done properly. The guides I've seen advise using the index and middle fingers of the right hand, and I've been trying to do that but my fingers get stuck on the back right down corner. I often find myself doing about 1/4 of an R' move and reaching on top of the U face with my middle finger and doing the 180degree turn with that finger alone, but I don't think this is preferable.

Any advice?

Check out Bob Burtons page. He has videos on how he does all the OLL and PLL algs with fingertricks in fast and slow versions. They may or may not be useful for helping you with M2's (which I don't particularily like to do either), but at the very least, seeing him do them so blazing fast is pretty impressive.

Yeah I use that page. You just linked to the same page as Spyyder :P

a very easy algorithm for the H perm is R2 U2 R U2 R2 U2 R2 U2 R U2 R2

I use this on my 4x4x4 as slice moves are hard to perform fast.

as for M slices on a 3x3x3, I use my left ring finger if U follows, or my right ring finger if a U' follows for M2 I use my ring then middle finger for the second turn to make it faster.

I just use what Bob Burton explains it works really well except for the fact that at the beginning it feels awkward especially with a tight cube. After you do it enough it gets easy and becomes insanely fast

I can easily do .91(sub .90 if I try) using this alg:
(M2' U' M2') U' U' (M2' U' M2')

form the M2' I use a push towards me with my right ring finger, then a second push with my right middle finger. The U' is preformed with a flick of the left index.

here are a lot of different ways to do H-perm:

for z-perm, you should consider switching to the RU version, its quite fast.

I use (R' U' R2 U)(R U R' U' R U R U')(R U' R' U2) and it is one of my faster algs during speedsolves. The fingertricks for the start and end are a little odd, I need to make a video of this...

or you could try the Dan Knights Z-perm, one of my friends is easily sub-2 with it:
