Hello,
So, I am learning PLL, and recently learned H perm and Z perm... but am extremely slow at them.. Z perm taking about 4-5 seconds, and H perm taking around 3-4.. how can I improve on them? I know a lot of practice.. but I have no idea what fingers to use to the the 2M turns... any help?

why? i think doing it with only one hand is all that is necessary, even for roux.

I agree. One hand is fine to learn M/M' with. I definitely suggest doing it with your non-dominant hand and using pinky/ring over ring/middle. It will make you comfortable using those fingers for quick M2 slice. That comfort will translate over to algs with D2's(ex.A perms) and OH.

I usually do D2 with ring/middle too. But for OH you definitely have a point for the M slice heavy algs.

I perform the H-Perm M2 with right-hand middle finger, left-hand ring finger. I don't double trigger the U2 and I'm nearing sub-1 with it. It's very efficient, but I think if I double trigger the U2 it could be faster.

I suggest non-dominant hand for OH cubing and also generally a lot of people cannot U2 with their non-dominant hand, so it makes H and Z much easier. As for both hands, I learnt on my right hand to do it, then swapped over to left hand later. Having the option to do both is awesome for BLD.

Left hand is my non-dominant hand. H-perm is M2 U M2 U2 M2 U M2 or M2 U' M2 U2 M2 U' M2. My U' is as good as my U (or maybe even better). So three M2 and one U2... my righty M2 has always been a lot better than my lefty M2 from the start. Lefty U2 was only slightly worse than righty U2. So what did you think I did?

I do M2 with right hand and U2 with left hand.

Yeah, that's the same way I do it. I actually can't do any mid slices with my left handed well though.

Exactly the same as me. I showed a guy at school who I was teaching 4lLL to H perms, and he chose his left hand to do M moves. I just don't get it. My right hand is far better at M moves, so I use it.
But my M2s suck. No double flicking and most of the time I do R' [r M'] (which is better for U perms, particularly M2 U M U2 M' U M2, my fastest PLL. It's also useful for BLD as you don't accidentally miss layers and aren't sure whether you did or not; I actually got this fingertrick from Stefan's M2 page).

I hated Z and H perm because I was executing them as ring finger-ring finger M'-M' before I realised you had to double flick. Now I love them. Really fast, and they look so sexy.
