Why don't people use fingertricks for D moves?

I see it SO often, where really fast guys use their whole hand for D moves. I've seen Harris do it, and Yu does it as well.

Why not just use your ring fingers?

I use my ring fingers....but my friend (who averages 14-15 s to solve a cube) uses his full hand. Maybe because then your ring finger and other fingers are set for another move, like RU'R, moving R with your right index finger, U' with your left index finger, then as your doing this moving your right hand to regrip the R face to do R'.

I hardly ever have to use D so I haven't bothered to work on my fingertricks with that layer. I used to use my ring fingers but I quit for some reason.

I use a usual trigger for D2, as you do the U2 with two fingers.
A-Perm for example:
left index and thumb hold the cube, cause you have to turn the whole cube anyway, you don't use extra time to hold it like that.
D2 with ring finger and then following middle finger.

well the transition between a D with your wrist and R/R' is a little easier i think. you have to 'switch' the weight on your hand, and maybe just moving your hand around is a little quicker/easier...

I've always done ring finger D' moves... It just comes naturally when it comes to pulling the BD piece to do M slices. So I just apply the same thing to D. It's a lot easier than exchanging grips.

However, I use my hand for D2 moves. Easier (for me) to do rather than doing finger triggers twice.

Yeah, I use ring finger for D or D' and right hand for D2. It's a bit slower than I like, but the only time I really use D2 is for cross or l2 U' R D2 R' U R D2 R. That alg's a bit slow for me.

I don't get it either. They most probably use their ringer fingers when doing OH, why not also on 2H?
