Right now, I am taking my chinaminx all apart so that I can sand all of the corners. My question is if there is anything I can do with the springs that will make it work better. I don't want to put it all back together then notice that the springs need cut or replaced.
Kinda like how the Meffert's minx is stupid unless you replace the springs, is the same true for the Chinese minx?

I've also heard that you can replace the springs but Idk I don't own a megaminx haha sorry I'm not much help.

I've never heard of anybody doing anything tp the springs of a Chinese megaminx. They don't need it.

You do not need to do anything with the chinaminx springs. To be honest, probably the best thing to do is replace the mefferts megaminx springs with the chinaminx's springs.
thats what my main megaminx has and i average like 1:25 with it

Yeah...what exactly are you doing? Sanding the bumps down, or the edges of the edges? I've thought about taking a file to my chinaminx but I'm not sure what to do yet.

Let me know how it goes, I don't want to embark on an hours long ordeal to find out it doesn't help at all... Thanks for being brave! heh.

I hope it works, or else I will cry lol. It will be a while until I am done, though. It is really boring, so I am only going to do 5 or so a day. And I never play with my minx anyway, so I'm not really in a hurry.

Ok, I got a dremel (from the veterinary office my mom works at.) I just have to reassemble now and I will tell how the minx is after I get it all assembled. The pieces are really smooth and nice, so hopefully the results reflect this :)

buy a pvc, they have springs

huh, what? My minx does have springs.

Anyway, I have it all back assembled... and I'm quite disappointed :( It did help a little, but I think the really big problem is that the edges of the corners are so sharp that they catch on to the other pieces, causing lockups, so I am going to have to sand that down :/ So I have more work to do.

ahem.... pvc, lol

My PVC megaminx is the most horrible megaminx ever...takes like 8 seconds to do a sune...
Do people replace the springs in PVC megaminxes?

AFAIK, spring replacement is only an issue with Meffert's megaminxes (megaminces? hehe). The springs that come in Chinese megaminxes are fine.
