Hello my name is David, I have been into cubing for about 1 year ago when I watched a youtube video on solving a Rubik's Cube(*Yes, I know they are not Rubik's cube they are 3x3 puzzles i hate it when people refer to them as rubiks cubes using the most basic method not even F2L. I didn't own a Rubriks cube so I did what every jobless kid does, "Mom can you please get me something from Wal-mart :)". lol... After months and months of learning this basic method i started timing myself and my first timing was 5 minutes or so and i started researching more and learned basic F2L but still used basic method for OLL and PLL. I lowered my time from average of 5 to 2-2:30 minutes cutting it in half. lets say at 6 months I watched Feliks world record and was amazing and opened my eyes... I NEED TO LEARN MORE ALGORITHMS lol... well i copied feliks and bought a Zanchi and literally after that i got 50 seconds to 1:40 every time i thought i was so fast ha.. long story short i really need to learn PLL and OLL i know about 9 PLLs and just got a PB 3 weeks ago at 35 seconds still slow as poop but im working on it i really need help learning PLLs and OLLs for my style of cubing (idk what to call it)

I am here to learn about cubing and hope to learn and become faster...

I have never recorded anything besides 3x3 but i will upload all my times ill do them right now!

also please list any fun cubes i should get i have 2x2,3x3,4x4,5x5 that is it and a Rubik's Magic

2x2: 21.30

3x3: 35.00

4X4: 5:50.54 (DAMN THAT IS SLOW and there was a parity i didn't know at the end so i didn't really solve it)

5X5: 12:23.21

Not ao5. That was Weilong.

OMG, how many times do we have to quibble over this? There is no best cube!! There are only certain cubes that are better for a certain person's skill level e.g. faster cubes for faster cubers and more controllable, but still good cubes for beginners...

And also, stop promoting Weilong all the time. Beginners will start thinking that the Weilong is the only cube out there, even though they really shouldn't start with that cube.

Amen brother.
I honestly wish I didn't switch cause it is hard for me to control.

Why does everyone here have to confuse beginners with hardware bickering? Just buy the cheapest cube and be done with it.

So what. All you do is talk about how great the Weilong is. The Zhanchi is easily possible to sub-10 with. Therefore good cube.

Plus no one cares about average

Nobody cares about averages? Is this a joke or do you actually think that? If it's a joke I apologize, but if not, do you think the person who averages fastest is fastest, or the person that get's that one single solved based on a scramble that is faster?

I know about speed cubes i am subscribed to crazybadcuber so i see most of his reviews and he reviews most of these "controversial" cubes what are the best. A lot of them are similar, in fact they are all similar, they are all great cubes my only speed cube is a zanchi, yes i will be buying the Weilong, Fanshi V2, and Sulong(when it comes out.. has it?).

side note: No cube is the perfect cube different style different cubes

P.S. Thanks for the welcomes guys and arguing over what cube is the best on my post lulz :) some PLL and OLL tips would be nice(thanks rj)

Haha Welcome I nearly forgot. Anyway, away from bickering and back to helping. PLL: make sure your algs are comfy for your turning style and have a nice flow to them. Like I keep on saying, cubing is all about uniqueness, therefore some algs are better for other people. Also, drill your PLLs that give you issues. The norm is usually G's and N's. OLL: same with comfy algs and stuff. And drill.

On a sidenote, look into the other methods to gain a better understanding of cube movement. You may even want to switch methods!

The problems with CBC's speedcube video's are that he get's them before anybody else does, which means it's our real first look at them. Because it's the only video we have to watch that is decent, any hype he has about it personally is them transferred to the public, and then if a cube isn't as good as he makes it look then people are disappointed. Keeping in mind though, that CBC isn't super fast, he's decent, but not FAST by any means, so what a super fast speedsolver see's in a cube, he might not, so the review is still honest. He does do a really really great job at what he does though, but that leads to the second problem; he only gives first impressions for the most part, he doesn't re-review it after having it for a while. After following him on Facebook for quite some time, I've noticed that his first impressions of a puzzle don't always stick, yet he doesn't update the public beyond Facebook. It's his decision, but I wish he would do more updates, so we know what it's like after he's had it for a while.

All that being said, he may not be the fastest, and his opinions on speedcubes may not be shared by the faster people, but like I said, he does a great job at showing the puzzle in HD up close and showing the mech and doing a decent first impressions video. Beyond that needs work though. So what I'm saying, is don't base everything you need in a speedcube from CBC's videos. They give you an idea, but aren't world class speed cubing matieral.

Lol. That is just what noobs think. I believe average is more important but most noobs think the single is the only thing that matters.

For oll/pll tips. Find good algs and practice them. I really just practice mine in solves. I can sub-2 most plls except for like F and Ns and some Gs and maybe E. Learn full pll before full oll. But just keep practicing and it will come.

I can give you some good F2L guides, too. Sulong has come out, look on wallbuys.com
