Geoff here, a retired helicopter pilot, 66 years old.

I started cubing in 1980, or whenever the cube showed up on our shores.

Walked away from it for a few decades, and recently got a cube at a yard sale for a quarter.
Had to solve it, natch, and now I'm interested in improving my times.
Wore the stickers off so I got a Da Yan2 GuHong. Neat cube!

I'll never be as fast as most of you, but if I can get under a minute, I'll be happy.

Welcome! I've always wanted to try flying a helicopter but I heard it's really hard. Good luck getting under 1 minute... I think you can definitely do it!

Helicopter flying sounds right for me, as I have good coordination. Did you do commercial flying?

Yes, I flew in Vietnam and did a lot of utility work later on, mostly seismic exploration. Also did powerline work, flew two fire seasons etc. Last 22 years were flying EMS.
