[Unofficial] Maxim Chechnev on "Ukraine's Got Talent" show. Final.

Hi. One of the russian speedcubers had the oppornunity to talk with Maxim today (Skype).
Quote - "Maxim read the comments of Russian speedcubers and is really embarassed because of misunderstanding. We discussed a lot of things and on Saturday (the Final concert is going to take place on Saturday) Max will mention about the hard-working blindfolders and the real hardness of blindsolving, about the beauty of speedcubing. There will be no cheating this time. Maybe, this will be boring, but by the time the voting will end. Maxim will say all about what you call "cheating" according to the wishes of speedcubers. :)".

Good I'm happy that the general public will not stay misinformed

Nice, but why are there quotation marks around cheating?

Maybe the general public thinks that the inverse scramble is truly the way to blindfold-solve a cube, as opposed to our way of memorizing the pieces into steps, which they may perceive as "cheating". I know when I was a noncuber, I thought that BLDers actually knew how to reverse every single move ever done to the cube. Then when I found out that it's only a matter of manipulating the pieces, it ruined the magic of blindfold-solving for me.

I through they memorised where each piece is and tracked it as they went along. The truth is still as impressive to me.

"Only a matter of..."???? What a stupid thing to say.

So you are saying that you are more impressed by someone being able to just reverse a scramble, than someone who can solve a cube blindfold when it has been genuinely scrambled by someone at random?

You were completely missing the point. This is the equivilant of saying that you would be more impressed at someone solving a cube SIGHTED by simply reversing a scramble, rather than genuinely solving it.

Unbelievable!

things do change, you are right. But personally i do care if he wins, it is unfair on the other competitors and he doesn't deserve it.

I personally don't care at all what happens at that tv show and can't be bothered to go into any debates about whether his actions were fair regarding the other competitors. I only wanted to reflect on how his explenation (or lack thereof) would affect the cubing community and its public image.

Keep in mind my last two sentences (I know when I was a noncuber... , Then when I found out...) was still while I was a noncuber.
Now, as a cuber, I see BLDing as an intensive memory sport that is very difficult successfully do, let alone successes under the pressure of a live audience (like Marcell).

Although, seeing someone know the optimal solution to a cube (scrambled by someone at random) would be pretty awesome too, but this is clearly not the case with Maxim.

Well that was rather rude. Anyway, what he meant that you completely missed the point of, is that he had thought that the people who did BLD were reversing the scramble WITHOUT knowledge of the scramble beforehand, as in, if you hand a BLDer a cube, they will find the optimal solution to it in their head and then apply it blindfolded. (Sort of like FMC, except much quicker)
If this were true it would be extremely impressive, I'm going as far as to say more impressive than the way BLD is normally executed. However no such inverse scramble BLD method exists. The thing is, BLD is still EXTREMELY impressive regardless, what TheJCube was saying is that when he was a non-cuber, his perception of BLDers method for solving was immensely more difficult than it actually is.
Once again, I am not saying BLD isn't impressive or difficult, it is very. However, these words are relative, and compared to trying to do FMC at the speed people BLD, it is nowhere near as impressive.

And no, it is not the same thing as saying its more impressive to watch someone undo A scramble quickly while sighted, it's the same thing as saying its more impressive to watch someone undo ANY scramble quickly while sighted. And by undo I mean find and apply the inverse scramble, not a solve method like CFOP or Roux.

Hey guys,
You know sitting in front of your computer and whining that someone else is wrong is not good thing at all.
If thats so easy why doesnt everubody go to show and perfrom the same way? Is it felling of integrity or just laziness, fear(everyone has it) etc.?
However I personally believe that not being a coach potato is at least more useful, regardless of what you are doing.
Yes he did fake solves, but who cares if he had shown something high-ranking as a speedcuber noone would be impressed.
He did excellent show in a very nice and positive way, he showed that speedcubing is interesting and entertaining activity,
and nevertheless a lot people being motivated by him tried to solve Rubik's cube, is it bad or what?)
In the end, this is NOT wca competition, its no big deal, take it easy)

We don't all do it because if we did it legitly, it wouldn't be fast enough for the length of the show.

Couch* and I'm actually sitting in a chair right now.

People would still be impressed, just look at Maskow and his performance on Polish Got Talent. He did his solves legitly, and though he did not win, the entire speedcubing community was proud of what he did. Unlike Maxim.

It IS a big deal. His performance is a misrepresentation of speedcubing and BLD.

a) Please spell properly.
b) Integrity.

Yes he did fake solves, but who cares if he had shown something high-ranking as a speedcuber noone would be impressed.

c) False.
