[Unofficial] Maxim Chechnev - Ukraine's Got Talent 5 (MBF 100 cubes)

From where did you get it that it took him one week? At 5.55 he says (not exactly): Yesterday my friends scrambled those 100 cubes and I memorized the scrambles. I´m quite sure, that he didn´t cheat, but the actual cube should have been randomly choosen, now the "judge" said "85".

Some of the previous comments said that he actually took a week to memorize although he said that he memorized them the previous evening in the video.

wednesS is close to guys which were with Maxim behind the stage. So he know it right

What do you mean: Is he lying about yesterday (i.e. it should have been a week) or is he cheating in some other way?

If he really memorized all the cubes (wich is amazing), i dont understand why he doesnt solve all the 100 cubes blindfolded, afterwards.
That would be an amazing video and he already memorized them all!! I dont get it!! What a waste!!

Greetings, Dennis

A quick analysis of how much memorization this is: assuming each cube uses three-four locations in the Journey method.

100 cubes would result in ~350 locations. Using the same technique, a grandmaster of memory would use 350 locations for 3150 digits / 10500 binary digits / 38 to 39 decks of cards.

Some world records for these feats:

1-hour Digits: 2660
1-hour Cards: 28 decks
30-minute Binary: 4140
1-Day Cards: 59 decks

Certainly it could be challenging to someone without memory training to do it in a day, but a week would be very easy to do.

lol I wouldn't really memorize 100 cubes if it were me, I would've just memorized 10, and apply the same scrambles to 10 groups of 10 cubes. Not like anybody's checking to see if they're all different scrambles

Yeah, before I heard he actually spent a week memorizing, I was thinking it would have to be something like this. Or 10 groups of edge scrambles and 10 groups of corner scrambles (each digit would link to one of the ten possibilities)...

I would guess each person only gets a limited amount of time on stage
I know. I said AFTERWARDS. Put a camera in a room and solve them, you know?

Thats a great idea.

Or just one scramble, done in 6 different orientations, then laid out on the table in different orientations. I doubt anyone would notice.
