Hey guys, new guy here :P

My name is Kody (call me kody, not kodkody :P), I'm 15 and Australia

I've been solving the 3 by 3 rubiks cube for few months, and atm( I'm averaging of around 1:05-1:20 although my personal record is 46 seconds). I'm using a beginners method, Although i tried learing the F2L Fridrich method though, i felt it took me longer to figure that out then the normal LL.

Anyway, I've been wondering if there is a forum about rubiks cube and i found this!

Welcome! F2L is slow when you're getting used to it, but it's the key to getting fast. Though there are other methods for you to try if you like but some are harder for your brain to get around. Anyway, I recommend you get comfortable with beginner's but then move to Fridrich F2L. Don't wait too long.

Yo, Kody. I'm 15 too (well, 16 on tuesday). F2L is going to mess up your times at first, but after the initial learning period, your times will drop again. I'd reccommend you spend some time at least trying out Roux and ZZ seriously, then choose from those 3 methods (roux, zz, cfop). They are the "big" methods around here.

You could try petrus too in addition to the big three, even though it's not that famous, you may still get considerably fast with it.

I disagree. Petrus is just as famous... and it's been around longer than Roux or ZZ. It just doesn't seem to be as fast. It's more for FMC but not so ideal for speed, imo.

I know that, but I was typing my reply on the cellphone and I was just to lazy to erase what I had written just to correct that haha :)

Kody, :D Another aussie. What state are you from? And if I were you, I would keep trying with Fridrich. It seems slower to start. It does get faster with practice though.

Melbourne Victoria :)

And i am, but what i notice, it's harder, cause there's no specific algorithms, it's just about looking for the right parts, which take off too much time, but I am practicing.

Bought a new Dayan cube...

It's good and all.. but the only problem i have, is that when im moving the edges around and stuff(the Left/Right and Top side), at times, the cube just extends then i have to keep moving the cube abit to fix it to go back to normal.. this can take off about 3-4 seconds off my cube time while isn't too much but since with this cube I've went from a 1:12 average to now averaging between 35-55 I'm trying to get under 30 seconds and my record is actually 32 seconds atm..

Should i lube it? although when im solving it fast, the cube feels fast but when im solving it just normal or below abit slower, it feels stiff and not hard to turn but I guess it can be faster, but the fact that it extends makes me think i shouldn't lube it cause it'll become worse??

Need help!

Perfect video! That is what I started out with.. and.. *looks at cabinet filled with cubes, and points at it*

Careful because that is what you might end up with hehe

I got a new Dayan cube, and my record before that has always been 55 seconds.. and i never managed to beat that, that's because i had a 2 dollar cube probably :P

Atm without my Dayan cube being lubed nor tensioned properly(which i will do soon) i managed to get 38 seconds :D .. Although im averaging between 40-55 atm i still finally managed to break my old record, as a matter of fact, im averaging my old record! How much faster do you think i'll get if i am to tension+lube the cube?

^ This video is what you should do.

Dayans need lube and proper tensioning for optimal performance.

So should i disassemble the cube and do that? I'm looking to buy Silicone spray is that good? heard it is.
