Well to be fair to him, he's in no way obligated to do a livestream or whatever. I mean we did ask him for a video and he came up with one. I'd be pretty pissed if I was legit and came up with a video and people still ask for more lol

First of all I would like to thank everyone for their praise. Its particularly heart warming to get praise for my fingertricks from the man who taught me most of them :D
As to the questions of this video's legitimacy:

Well to be fair to him, he's in no way obligated to do a livestream or whatever. I mean we did ask him for a video and he came up with one. I'd be pretty pissed if I was legit and came up with a video and people still ask for more lol

This would sum up my feelings exactly. I made this vid to help give people an idea of my cubing style and roughly my FASTEST speeds. I do not see how it would seem fake for a person who has no time to take a while to make a vid that he has no need to make. What you see in this vid is near my pb so I don't see how doing a live stream would in any way tell you if this video is real, but seriously guys do you ask everyone else to do such ridiculous lengths to prove themselves?

I am not claiming to be sub 10 by any means and I even wrote so in the description of this vid. I average around 11 seconds and I am working my way into the 10 second realm, what is so hard to believe about that? Some days I average 10, others its 14. I have been cubing for almost two years now and you think it is fake for me to post a sub 10 average of 5? I had my first sub 10 average fo 5 when I was averaging 14 seconds lol. I even admitted that I couldn't get a sub 10 average of 12 on camera and you still think I am faking?

I am not sure where any of you got this idea, but I have nothing to prove to any of you, nor do I have any obligation to make any of the multitude fo videos and posts I make which are all centered on helping others. I am an independent (former foster youth with no parents or financial support whatsoever) 22 year old with 3 jobs do you honestly think I have the time to try and fake solves just for the sake of all of you? What do I even gain from that? The praise of a bunch of people who I don't even know? Oooo yay. You guys seriously need to rethink the way you look at me and this forum.

I have little to nothing to gain from this forum and I only came back to help share my ideas with those who want to hear them. I will not and am not going to get re-involved in the drama here. I am still going to make my average of 12 vid for my own personal goals, but I am not going to waste hours trying to prove to you that I am the speed I know I am. Also, why does it matter how fast I am in the first place? Nothing I have said here or promoted is bad advice or flawed so why do you need to see me perform live to do what is inherently right? Also you can see me doing multiple solves in all of my vids and you can get an idea of my speed there just by how I do things. When I watch a video of any of the other faster cubers like Cyboux I don't think "hmm I bet he is faking it", I think "hmm good ideas thanks for taking the time out of your day to help me out".

With all of that being said, I am not completely opposed to doing the livestream, but don't be expecting to see sub 10 averages because I am not sub 10. The average you saw in this vid was after two hours of straight cubing and over 150 solves.

I'm not so sure about that, but congrats on the average.

I vote you do the livestream after warming up because you hardly upload videos of you speedsolving and it would be cool to see more :D

[EDIT]
Also, thank you brest.

Didn't know if I should make this post, but if I don't - who will.

A group of us have been debating whether this is fake or not. There are a few suspect things that had led us to this conclusion.

However, I'm worried I'm being over critical and just looking for something because of the situation.

I'm not sure what to think.

What is it that make you post nothing but negative comments in all his topics? Is it envy because it took you years to get that fast? Or has he called you names? It gets really old you see you put your self to shame again and again. If you don't like his video's, or his cube style or what ever. Just leave the guy alone and ignore his topics. He has nothing been but a huge help for people like me.

Even though I am a beginner, jskyler's videos have helped me gain some knowledge. Don't tell he's a fake if you don't like him.

Nice solves, by the way! Those fingertricks made me go WOW!

I don't want to see a livestream. All we've asked is for a video - this is all I needed to see.

I am not claiming to be sub 10 by any means and I even wrote so in the description of this vid. It's the video that makes me think it's fake, not the actions.

I originally wasn't so sure, but I'm not beliving it anymore.

There are lots others who think the same. A lot of the things in the video are 'weird'.

I am not sure where any of you got this idea, but I have nothing to prove to any of you, nor do I have any obligation to make any of the multitude fo videos and posts I make which are all centered on helping others.

I'm not denying that some of your videos can be helpful. (Some can be misleading, but that's another issue.) You also didn't have to post this video in the first place.

I don't see how being 22 and having three jobs has any bearing on the legitimacy of the video.

I have little to nothing to gain from this forum and I only came back to help share my ideas with those who want to hear them. I will not and am not going to get re-involved in the drama here. Please don't! This is all I wanted to see. You didn't have to make it and we're now both satisfied with the outcome. Well, at least I am. :3

Also, why does it matter how fast I am in the first place?

It doesn't, I'm just curious.

Nothing I have said here or promoted is bad advice or flawed so why do you need to see me perform live to do what is inherently right? Also you can see me doing multiple solves in all of my vids and you can get an idea of my speed there just by how I do things. Because his videos don't look suspect.

What is it that make you post nothing but negative comments in all his topics?

I was going to link you to times when I've given positive replies to his topics, but that seems a bit silly. I've been quite amicable recently since he was back - no flamebait from me this time, which was something I used to do for fun. There are also many of his topics that I have not posted in at all. Your statement is false.

Is it envy because it took you years to get that fast?

I'm faster, why would I be envious?

Or has he called you names?

Lol, no. It makes me laugh when he does that.

I'd do the same to anyone else that does the same thing, and I do. I wasn't going to mention this, but a lot of us had a discussion about the video and all seem to agree on it. No one else is going to post this - so I will.

It gets really old you see you put your self to shame again and again. If you don't like his video's, or his cube style or what ever. Just leave the guy alone and ignore his topics. He has nothing been but a huge help for people like me.

I assumed I'd get a lot of jskyler fans telling me that I'm mean or something. No reason for me to not post what I think ^_^

Well, I've been watching these discussions, and although I haven't really taken part in them, I've been given enough reasons to start doubting it.
Basically there are several things which I will list below.
1) Scrambling is very slow
2) The one solve that was mis-scrambled was the 12
3) He blames the 12 being slow on PLL, even though the LL on that sovle was only 0.38 slower than the 7
4) There are no pauses on the faster solves. At all.
5) On the 7, after the 2x2x3 a move and rotation is done immediately which is just insane lookahead.

The combination of these things lead us to belive that some of the solves are rehearsed. Especially reasons 1 2 and 4.
I didn't really want to get involved in this, and you'll notice I haven't said what I think about the video, and I'm leaving it that way.

I didn't want to post any reasons only for people to say "NONE OF THIS IS PROOF". But since MLSTRM did...

The turning style is so clumsy. The solves are fast because there are less pauses than Faz / Weyer / Conny / Mats have. It looks so unrealistic.

Some of the transitions are just too much - OLL and PLL on the third solve is executed as one alg. The first and second solve have similar properties.

The scrambling is so weird. There are times when there are big pauses in it. Feels like extra care is being taken to be correct. Then when there is a misscramble, the solve is a 12. Suspect importing practised scrambles into CCT.

Wow you guys this is a bit pathetic. People can find anything if they want to, hell I could look at most of Fazs videos and think wow he must be cheating because he planned really far ahead (hint hint try the double x cross solve yourself a baby could form it, that was a ridiculously easy solve. I tried it again and I got a 6 on it lol) or, omg he paused while scrambling he must be cheating its not like he could have lost his place while scrambling or purposefully went slow because he was trying to focus on not f'ing up because he knew that if he did people like Kir would say he was cheating.

You guys are ridiculous in your attempts to discredit me. I cant believe you think I cheated because on my second to best pb average of 5 EVER I had solves where I didn't stop!!! OMG, so the best average he has ever had involved nearly perfect solves!!??? What a shocker!!! Seriously guys think what you want, but you are fishing, why I have no idea, but seriously fishing for reasons why I must be lying to get a 9.32 average. That's not even that great of an average. If I wanted to show off I would have rehearshed easier solves and put up a low 8 average, now that would be worth wasting however long it takes to do whatever you think I am doing here, but a 9.32 seriously you think I would waste my time on that?

You provided literally no refutation to their points. I don't even know what I think about this, but the fact that your response is to rant rather than actually respond to the arguments doesn't really look good.

Seriously? My "rant" shows how ridiculous it is to say I am faking just because I paused when scrambling and I happend to do not as well on the one solve that I miscrambled or that because I turned fast and looked ahead really well on a near PB average. I mean just think about that, you guys are telling me that on your BEST SOLVES EVER you haven't gone nearly nonstop? Isn't that the definition of a nearly perfect solve for you? Well it is for me especially since I rarely pause as it is and have provided many a reference as to how to do so in video form. The only thing that I can understand your hesitation on is that I paused when scrambling, but ask any of my fellow berkeley cubers, I mess up scrambles ALL THE TIME (even people who have gone to berkeley comps have probably seen me get chewed out for this) and so I was trying not to and thus went slower and hey I still messed up on the last solve.

Also, my last solve was only 3 seconds slower than my average, why does that sound so ridiculous or suspicious? Even if I was rehearsing it if I messed up I wouldn't know what was coming thus by solving it in 12.5 seconds I would be proving that on the fly I could solve at least 12.5 seconds average and I did lock up on the last layer and had to do an U2 AUF. So if you guys are trying to say I am actually really slow I think my 12.5 second solve should prove to the contrary especially since I didn't even know it was miscrambled until you guys told me. Also, just think logically, in general, isn't your worst solve of an average normally above your average? And don't you always mess up a good average right at the end?

Finally, why is everyone so disbleving that a 7 second solve looks rehearsed? I mean isn't a 7 second solve usually really good? I don't know about you guys but I do not get them often and I think I even exclaimed so in the video. I have maybe had 25 in my cubing career and I have done thousands of solves in just the past 6 months. This means that a 7 is in the very top 1% of my solves and are thus the very best solves I ever do generally. My peak performance level With all of that in mind you think its strange that I had nearly no pauses (there were some if you check) on a solve where I was at nearly peak performance in terms of solving times? If I can solve at 11 seconds average over 50% of the time than I already don't pause much at all, so why is it strange to think that at my best I would nearly not pause? Heck even if I only still averaged 14 seconds which is on my WCA profile I still need to be able to nearly not pause or have at least decent lookahead so why wouldn't you believe that I was capable of near perfect lookahead on one of my BEST SOLVES EVER.

BTW i capitalized the words BEST SOLVES EVER to make a point, you guys are trying to nitpick at a person who is proven to be sub 15 for having a sub 10 average of 5? Your saying that its impossible for a sub 15 cuber to on the best solves he ever did be sub 10? That seems a little ridiculous to me. If someone can be sub 15 in comp and have an 11 second solve over 6 months ago then I think he can probably do at least 3 sub 10 solves at his peak performance.

Was there anything I missed?

Thanks for sharing your analysis of OP's solves. Maybe you're right, maybe you're wrong, but it's not proof. There's clearly something personal going on here as nobody else's solves seem to be subject to such scrutiny and speculation, let alone public accusations of dishonesty. That's what makes this distasteful, whether he's faking or not.

I totally agree wth you Mark. What is this? Highschool?

Well put, I am not sure what I have done to earn the criiticisms and skepticism of some of this forums members but I would think that my countless contributions would make up for it and you could stop harassing me whenever I post anything. Literally almost every single video I post gets attacked or scrutinized rudely and openly. From my reading of the site rules that sounds a bit contrary to the purpose of this forum and its just plain old rude.

You've been a member since Oct 2012.. this is no way this is just against jskyler, there have been lots of other issues. Also, private accusations of dishonesty wouldn't amount to much either.

You're not helping, at all.

You do get lots of positive posts from people, just that some other people would live to scrutinize or negatively criticise it. There's nothing wrong with well thought out criticism.
