It is mainly the difference between a look and a step.
Either way Petrus is a wonderful method, and you can get quite fast using it. Eventually you will want to learn more algorithms tho. But much progress can still be made with what you are using.
I don't have a handle on the nomenclature. A look and a step seem the same to me. Petrus does seem like a buildable method, so I'm glad I started with it.

So I'm sorry if I sound like an idiot, but I couldn't find anything on different cubes about like differences other than stickers and stuff. Do different cubes actually work better than others, for ex. The original rubix cube vs. the 25th anniversary one?

Yes.

Some cubes have a crappy design and jam every turn. Some others turn wonderfully!

Some cubes have been lubricated while other have not.

Some cubes are very loose while some others are very tight.

Some cubes have a bad core causing lots of lock ups while others have good cores.

Some cubes are made out of a different kind of plastic (some are made out of metal = fail).

I could go on and on.

I’m doubting any definitive difference between cubes. That’s not to say all cubes are the same, it’s just that no verification process has been endeavored. Face it. Cubes are toys. Our tool is not crafted with the precision of “legitimate” sporting goods. Golf ball assembly is subjected to relentless mathematical assault and the full-force of R&D departments with multi-million dollar budgets. Cubes are spat from slapdash Chinese molds. Even lubrication is ridiculously contentious. Petroleum bases are obviously ghastly for plastic, but everything else is just a handful of viscosity points of separation. Negligible diversity. I use Astroglide. It really comes down to luck of the mold. Even core enthusiasts seem overly rabid (not me). Considering the screw hole is the only moving part, it seems hardware (screws/washers) is the only actual distinction with merit.

there has been some debate over whether or not rabid's posts are translated from chinese. to entertain this idea, i experimented with this free online translator. i translated the quoted post by rabid into chinese. then, i translated the chinese back into english. then, i translated that english back into chinese, and so on. this is what i ended up with:

I doubt that any clear distinction between the cube. This does not mean that all of the cube is the same, but there is no effort to verify the process. Face it. Toy Cube. Our tool is not malicious precision and "legitimate" sporting goods. Golf relentless attack on the General Assembly and the integrity of the mathematical research and development sector and millions of dollars worth of budget. I do not care about casting cubes. Lubrication is ridiculous, even if controversial. Oil-based plastic is obviously terrible, but everything else is just a very small viscosity of the separation point. The diversity of the smallest. I use Astroglide. It really comes down to luck mold. Even if it seems too much the core of fanatical fans (not me). Taking into account the screw holes is the only moving parts, it seems that the hardware (screws / washers) is the only real differences and advantages.

i can't stop laughing.

From a novice viewpoint, sub 1 minute solves seem impossibly fast. I’m heartened to see people pushing 30 seconds....

I am SOOO sure this dude is using a translator.

If so, it seems like a surprisingly good translator. I would think it's more likely he's using a >>>>>>translation dictionary<<<<<<, to get some of those cool words.

If this is a software translator, I want to know where to find it - it gives really cool (as well as surprisingly good) results!

For Holypasta.
