edit:the title should say move groupS :S woops

I have noticed that many cubers do not know the effect of different move restrictions. I'd like to create this thread to simply document the common ones so people know and at the same time get my questions answered about those I'm unsure of. Feel free to correct me, I want to learn too

RU
EO- orientation cannot be changed
CO- any
CP- only "no-swaps", no swaps if F2L is solved too.
EP- any in the RU slices

RUD
EO- cannot be changed
EP- any within R U And D
CO- any
CP- swap/noswap

RUL
EO- cannot be changed
EP- any within RUL slices
CO- any
CP- swap/noswap

RrMU
EO- any
EP- any within
CO- any
CP- only no swap

MU
EO- any (ofc within MU slices)
EP- any
CO- only oriented
CP- U corners solved relative to each other, D must be placed

Agh, gotta go, will write more later, but I'd like to post this now so people see it.
Also, if you think this thread is irrelevant feel free to remove/report

Yes, RUL and RUD allow any CP - you should just say swap/no swap

depending on your definition of EO, some of what you said could be wrong (pedantic)

Kir: Ok cool. Yes I know what you mean by my definition of EO... How could I explain this?
It's like... If you scramble RUL you can't misorient edges by the definition of oriented as um... Um. I know what it is, just I can't quite explain it :/

Cheese: yes, by the ZZ definition of oriented which I don't think is a nice way of puting it, hence ^

Will add more stuff later...

yeah, you just need to find a nice definition of EO (you don't need to, everyone knows what you mean)

maybe "edges that remain in the same 'orbit' within the movegroup" ? it's not very clear though

also, y u no do mu

If you scramble RUL you can't misorient edges by the definition of oriented as um...

Mark edges on U-face and around L- and R-layer. Imagine R, U or L turns - the marks always mark the same places. An edge, at any place, will always be oriented so that its mark is on the side where that place always has a mark.

FUBD: Oriented along x. Any x rotation preserves edge orientation within this group.
FRBL: Oriented along y.
RULD: Oriented along z.
MU: Oriented along z.

Not sure how this is meant. F2 x flips the UF edge.

I am unable to argue cube laws. My only response is that the perspective is changed, but after an x rotation the edge is still oriented for the FUBD group and not always for other groups. Also, my intent was to give a name to the orientation, not really to add a rotation into the group.

Orientation is now "with the centres". I could elaborate if you don't get me, but I am terrible at explaining things to people :/

Yeah I don't get it. Maybe you can just answer this: he wrote
"FUBD: Oriented along x. Any x rotation preserves edge orientation within this group"

With your "with the centres" meaning, aren't these also true(?):
"FUBD: Oriented along y. Any y rotation preserves edge orientation within this group"
"FUBD: Oriented along z. Any z rotation preserves edge orientation within this group"
