alright, so i was wondering if i should start doing 4x4 more often or not.

i want to, but 1- i hate scrambling the thing (lol)
and 2- what if my 3x3 times go down the tubes ???

or should i just stick with 3x3?
maybe OH?

this is so confusing...

Go for it. I seriously started 4x4 a few weeks ago and my average is down to consistent sub-1:40. And about your hate for scrambling. If you have a nice, broken in ES, you wouldn't be complaining. If you a have stiff, unlubed Rubik's brand, yeah it's gonna hell for you.

If you want to cube 4x, get a ES. I tried one yesterday, and I average 10 seconds faster on pairing. I was like WOAH!!

4x4 ftw! Seriously, broaden your cubing. Unlike lotsofsloths.

Ouch for lotsofsloths.. lol but i agree. go for big cubes :P...

And BLD.. and OH....

Just do all of them and do the one that's the most fun for you.

And I don't really know anyone who enjoys scrambling unless they don't know how to solve.

thanks guys, i think i will start doing 5x5 more.. even tho it wasnt any of the choices :p
i did a couple solves yesterday and i have been doing a LOT better, dunno why but just the last centers kill me. i probably spend a minute on the last centers

any tips??

Last centers for 5x5? Those are my favorite by far. Those should be your fastest centers in my opinion. There's a lot of experimentation to master the last 2 centers. I'm assuming you do 2 opposite, 2 adjacent, and last 2 centers. You should check out the bigcubes.com tutorial and learn only the 2 algorithms to switch individual center edges and corners. The rest is all intuitive. After a while, you start to recognize similar cases.

My 4x4 times are getting better and better, and my 3x3 times aren't suffering at all. And about scrambling: I almost NEVER use computer generated scrambles for anything bigger than a 3x3. If you can solve it, you can scramble it.

...If you can solve it, you can scramble it.
Not true at all. Many beginners cal solve Magics, but don't know how to get them back. And the reason people use computer scrambles is because those are more random compared to human scrambles. If I scramble without paying attenting I end up with a solved 2x2x2 block quite often. That is why I always put at least all slice-turns (MES on 3x3x3, lrudfb on 4x4x4, etc) and all RUR'U'-sequences (RUR'U' on 2x2x2, RUR'U'rur'u' on 3x3x3, etc) in my scrambles

Getting really random human-generated scrambles is something you can practice. I agree about slice turns: doing some regrips also helps. And if your scramble doesn't look random enough to you, just re-scramble your cube a little bit.
I almost never use comouter-generated scrambles, and my scrambles are just as random as them, at least it makes no difference on my times.
