I suck at F2L, help me.

I've switched to Fridrich a couple of weeks ago, and started intuitive F2L (took me ages). Then I tried putting in the edges and then using one of the F2L algs for that situations and that's also slow. Now I do a mixture. My OLL (learning slooowwwlly) and PLL (not bad) are pretty good but F2L is reaallly slowing me up. I was thinking of doind some sort of Petrus/Fridrich hybrid or something cos I'm lazy. I don't want to learn the 41 or so F2L algs!.

Simply speaking: Practise.

Be sure that you understand Fridrich's F2L, do not learn these algorithms blindly. If you're not so eager to learn them by heart, create them yourself, using your own intuition. Be sure that, for each of these 41 cases, you know how to react and what moves to do.

Okay, this is from a guy who has a 11-second F2L:

GO SLOW, AND LOOK AHEAD!!

seriously, don't go too fast unless your like me and doing anything else won't help:)

Also, a good exercise is trying to go as fast as you can while still looking ahead.

Generally just practice until your hands fall off:D

This is coming from a guy who has a 7-8 second F2L:

Make a rhythm in your solves. Mine is:
Cross: slowest
F2L1-3: a bit faster
F2L4: almost full speed
OLL: Fast, but not full speed yet
PLL: As fast as you can

Going fast and still trying to lookahead is NOT a good exercise until you are around 12 seconds F2L(Sub 20)

A good exercise is to find corner-edge pairs then close your eyes and try to envision the cube with the pairs, and how the second one is affected after you insert the second. After envisioning it try to do it with your eyes closed on a real cube. If you don't do it try to go slower. If you do do it try to go faster. I can do this correctly 100% of the time in about 5 or so seconds(including execution). Also, While inserting a pair, or making the cross, do not look at it. Search the cube for F2L pairs. (Harris Chan gave me that tip.)

Lastly, SEARCH the forums before making a thread. Thanks, and good luck.

well im glad that stachuk found jesus in my videos, but i dont think my vids are really of aid to this person. They kind of teach the method from scratch, but he looks like he already knows it, but is just slow. Besides, in my videos I teach a pretty inefficient way of doing F2L (beginner F2L if you will), where you first separate all blocks, then pair and then insert. meh

i love that no one refers to me by StachuK..noone knows that it's my first and last name
on every forum i join, it's always stachuk, lol

anyway, back on topic, i still recommended your videos for further observation/learning experience...he may have seen a less-efficient intuitive f2l(if that makes sense...)
but yes...i did fine Jesus in all of your youtube videos, and I wished you did more(alot more)

i might even put this in my sig: badmephisto doesn't need the internet; the internet needs badmephisto(ripoff of Chuck Norris joke)

watch badmephisto's videos
They are jesus in an mpeg...well, flv, actually

There's no need for blashphemy like that.

Just Jesus? I would say his videos are brought to us by god itself.
wait...does that mean that:
badmephisto == God

i knew he was good, but this good?

No no no. Frank Morris == God. Get your cubing deities straight.

Ok, on topic. *clears throat* Practice!

I'm also learning (badmephistos) intuitive F2l right now, my progress is rather slow but anyway I'm pretty sure in the end it will be worth the effort.
Imo the most important rules while using this ("beginners-")F2L are:

-Going slow and getting used to track pieces or at least recognizing the next Corner/Edge pair while inserting the current one
-understanding the basic concept of F2L, ie why the "algorithms" do what they are supposed to do and getting used to the basic cases (different colors, same color, white on top)

Those 2 are my top-priority at the moment and i hope I will reach a point when i do not really have to think about those 2 and my fingers just start to move^^
Then i guess it should be the time to learn the shorter algorithms for F2L and reduce some of those ugly "up-to-12-moves-separate-corner-and-edge-first-and-then-pair-them-up-again" moves....

BTW @Meph: Keep up the amazing work on doing videos, I just love em :) (Would this be the right place to ask for a video in which you show how you could learn to execute some standard moves very fast like allan or sune and so on?^^? sometimes it feels i'm gonna break my fingers)

I would still say they are pretty good. :)
