Hello! My name is Brandon Llewellyn and I'm currently living in Provo, UT while I'm going to school here at BYU to study biochemistry. I am originally from a small town in Texas called Trophy Club which is near Fort Worth.

I started cubing almost a year ago when my little brother sent me a random text one day bragging about how he learned how to solve the cube. Naturally I immediately had to learn how and I got my tutorial from Lars Petrus' website. Using the Petrus method and my type C III cube I got down to a 35 second average and PB of 26.2 within a couple months.

Recently I ordered a DIY cube that I'm very excited about and am patiently awaiting my cubesmith tiles for it. In the meantime I am trying to transition to the Friedrich method following the example of Feliks the great. Currently however I average a disappointing 50 seconds with the new method but improving fast.

I also really enjoy blindfold cubing. While I am not fast at all just yet I've learned that nothing can compare with the thrill of taking a blindfold off to a complete cube.

I normally don't respond to introduction threads, but I would like to encourage you to stick with Petrus. No method is faster than another, so just because Feliks uses CFOP doesn't mean that it's the best method. Don't let me make you stick with Petrus, though. Do whatever you'd like. I'd just like to see more Petrus users active on the forums. :D
Anyway, welcome to the forums! I'd like to introduce you to a few threads:

Welcome to the forums! I guess everyone should be encouraged to explore multiple methods. I solve CFOP atm but yeah it'd be good to see more Petrus users about.
Hope you enjoy it here anyway.

Yo. i personally prefer CFOP, but it's totally your choice. Experiment, see which is right for you. If you need help with anything, just send me a message, I'll be happy to help with anything at all.

Hey Brandon! I'm new to the forums myself! (after 2 years of lurking... :P)

CFOP is definitely worth your time! I used to use Petrus too, and then I switched over to CFOP, which is what I use now. I have to say, I still like Petrus and do some solves like that every now and then.

Or you could try to combine Petrus and CFOP... If you're good at block building, you could do Petrus for the first two layers, and then use oll and pll for the last layer.

Or of course theres always Roux... ;)

Happy cubing!

Sorry but I don't agree. Fridrich really is the fastest method. If you want to learn Petrus to have more fun with cubing, then go for it. If you actually take cubing seriously and want to get fast, stick with Fridrich :) Welcome to the forum!

looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooool

JyH is right. We need more Petrus cubers. But, still, if you don't enjoy Petrus, then by all means, switch!

Welcome! I think you should learn CFOP to atleast sub-40ish, try to learn roux too, it's supposed to be the 'funnest' method, but I've never stuck with it. :P I say learn other methods a little, then decide. It's personal preference.
