Hi everyone,

I recently got an email from Konstantinos Verdes, claiming that many of "my friends" are already sub 4 on the version of the 6x6 available on the v-cube website. I bought two 6x6's and, to quote my very good friend Joel vN, they "suck balls".

I'm interested to know if many people have solved the 6x6 in under 4 minutes yet? And what do you think of the puzzle?

Cheers,
DanH :)

My record is 3:49, and I know there are others who have done it. Dan has a video of a 3:28 somewhere in the video gallery. The cubes will get a lot better with some breaking in.

I just got 9:50.59, my first sub 10 and I'm really happy with it :)

I don't think the cube is that bad, I'm suprised it is possible to twist something that has that many pieses at all. Of course it is a little unstable. Practice practice practice remember? You must take your time to learn to handle it. (Note that it must "click" into position after a turn, then the next turn will be smooth)

The 6x feels wery diffrent from the 7x, I like it better actually, mostly because of the form, it's so hard to get good grips around the seven because it has no sharp edges, aspecially when doing single face turns. And also, it is much harder to align layers after a turn because it has no click like the 6x6x6.

My best times are like:

6x6- ~5.30
7x7- ~7.50

I can get way better times on these i reckon, i dont really try on edge pairing just take it casual, aha. Plus i lost a piece on my 6x6 :(

Actually, I'm the opposite - I very quickly learned to like the rounded shape of the 7, and now every other cube just feels so, well, cubic. Now it feels to me like every other cube has corners that stick out unnaturally. :)

My times are terrible on the 6 and 7 too, but that's not unusual since I'm not really very good at speedcubing at all. My best times are around 7:30 for 6x6x6 and 11:30 for 7x7x7. But I still have pretty wildly varying times - I had a 6x6x6 over 10 minutes this morning (despite not having a pop - generally I would have to pop to get a time this bad).

I'm getting better at reassembling the 6x6x6 when it pops, too (although I'm still not "good") - I had a pop last night where the center internal pieces came out on one side, and I was able to reassemble it (all 20 or so pieces that came out) and solve it in less than 15 minutes. I probably pop it about one out of every 3 or 4 solves.
