i am new to cubing and i use the begginer method and my average is 1min and 4sec what method will make faster but is easy to learn.

Personally its what method suits your style. I like a lot of fingertricks while some may like to use more faces of the cube to solve it. F2L is really popular but Petrus and Roux seem interesting too.

FYI - "F2L" is a subset and is in many, many methods - including Fridrich, Petrus, and ZZ. What you probably meant was CFOP, though, as that's the most popular method.

To the OP: there are many variations to the beginner method, but I'm going to assume that you build a cross and then solve one layer at a time, in which case I certainly recommend Fridrich (CFOP). You can always switch to another method in the future once you have a better grasp of the cube.

Heh, I have a friend who I've been teaching Roux to. He's sub-55... He's still using beginner corners (yes, RDRDRDRDR)...
@OP: I recommend petrus as it's rather simple but will give you an understanding of blockbuilding.
Good luck :)

seriously, im sorry but fridrich is the best method. I hate to break the news to everybody, but until somebody beats feliks or rowe with a different method I think its safe to say fridrich is the fastest. There are plenty of people who practice roux a ton, and they still aren't as good as fridrich solvers.

This could be true, but a good reason for that is that the other methods are underused, and as far as I know, undeveloped.

Fridrich is surefire way to fast time, but you should really stick to what method you're more comfortable with.
Of course, if it's all about the speed for you, go with Fridrich or set out to be the fastest Roux or Pertrus user and beat Feliks :p.

Your argument reminds me this frase: "Oh, you are a very good writer, you must have a great pen".

The cube is solved by the cuber (Rowe and Feliks) and not by the method. The WR belongs to Faz, not to the CFOP method.

And I'm sorry but there are not "plenty" of Roux solvers out there. Not compared with the ones that use CFOP. And if they can't get a 5.66 solve is because they are not Feliks, not because they use Roux.

There is no way to tell if CFOP is better than Roux, unless you have the same amount of effort (finding better algorithms, 1000s of cubers) on Roux compared with CFOP.

I'm sorry, but in all honesty... Basing such an opinion on empirical evidence alone is the epitome of ignorance.

CFOP is a lot older and aeons more popular than Roux, and therefore its strongest components have been exploited to the maximum, and there is a wealth of resources for tricks relative to Roux. Plus, when people see Feliks get stupid-good times, they want to learn CFOP more than Roux (which is still capable of sub-10 averages, as proven by some people), especially since it's a lot easier to learn from LBL than Roux. As a result, the amount of CFOP users increases and they might end up learning some other tricks, and the cycle continues. Roux has a lot less users and far less variations, etc.
IMHO, if Roux was as old and popular as CFOP and beginners learn a variation of it instead, people would be saying the exact same thing but about Roux and how CFOP is so inferior. Plus, the world record would probably still be more-or-less the same, if not even faster due to the far lower move count.

Edit:

Wontolla seems to have worded my argument better than myself. :p

You know something has changed when sub-9 avg12s are not a sign that a method has even a small chance of becoming the best.

Tell that to BigGreen and Kirjava.

Way to encourage the development of a fairly new method.

As for my opinion, I kind of like Roux being a minority.
But for people who are interested in the method itself I'd like to help then out as much as possible.
No I'm not contradicting myself. I mean, I don't like people using Roux just because they want to be different. I like it when people find the method interesting.

And anyone who wants to flame me, go flame me. B4p4076 (now Bapao) as taught me a lot :)

@OP
Allow me to expand on my earlier post :-)

Try all the methods and see what you like best.
It's no fun becoming fast with one method just to discover another method you like a lot better.
Try these:
Petrus, Roux, ZZ, CFOP
And these will help your understanding of the cube further although not proven fast. Bear in mind I use all these methods for speedsolving but mainly Roux.:
Heise
Corners first
Human thistlethwaite

And if you're truly interested in Roux and need help, feel free to PM me here or on my website ('wbs' link in my signature)

Edit:
Urgh... I hate these debates about Roux and CFOP. If you like Roux good, and if you like CFOP good for you too. Just stick with it.
No need for these ludicrous statements about one being better than the other.
