The 3x3x3 Example Solve Thread

Also your n perm shouldn't have a U2 I think...
anyway I'll go do it. May as well.
Scramble:
D2 R' U R2 B' F' L' B2 D2 B' U D2 R' D2 R2 B' R U' F U2 L F B U' D2

Randomly trying out simultaneous blockbuilding lol... Heise style. But with Roux.
U2 F U L D2 F2 simultaneously builds two squares on each block 6 moves
U' F' U F U B' R' B I changed the blocks I initially intended to do here. 8 moves.
x' z' U r2 D R' U2 R D' R' U2 r'... CMLL... i dont know enough algs for this case to do KCLL ;( but at least i did r2 to slightly influence last step. 10 moves
M2 U' M U2 M U M U' M' U2 M U M U2 M U2 r2 17 moves urgh. I can do much better but can't be bothered.
41 STM is good enough for a kind-of speedsolve.

J perm = R U R' F' R U R' U' R' F R2 U' R' (U') the U2 comes from undoing R U R' U'. so it's just R U R' F' R U R' U' R' F R2 U' R' U' U' R U' R'.

Maybe the rotations or the wide moves. Try the visualization on alg.garron.

Woops! Major apologies, guys. After toying around with that a while I realised I made two really stupid mistakes:
Both my D's as well as my x's were inverted, as silly as that is to mess up...

So, the scramble I did was actually R2 U L2 U2 L2 B2 U' L2 F2 D R2 F L2 U' R' D' U F2 L R' F and the solution was
y' x'
D F D2 U' R2 U M' L U' x // First block
U R U2 r' U' R2 U2 r' U r // Second, non-matching block
R2 D R' U2 R D' R' U2 R' // CMLL
U' M U' M' U M' U2 M' U l2 U2 M2 U2 // LSE

42 HTM with cancellations, left them in for clarification

"my" 6 edge alg is offcourse just a mod of an alg shown to me by Atilla: F2 U' D' R2 U D F2 D2
Where Atilla's alg solves 4 edges (misaligned edge pair swap) the mod solves 6 (edge swap + 4 cycle)
I also love the fact that the final ...2 move can also be put at the front of the alg, good for cancellations

Hm... Roux FMC or Roux speedsolve... I CAN'T DECIDE! Hm.. I'll make a start and see what I want to do.

Okay, let's do a linear FMC.

doing it now. btw I'm trying FMC but I suck at that... I can do better with regular roux actually. but still. It's fun.
R F' R B2 U R2 E' R2; R' fixes non-matching-ness. So...
found pre-move B' (because I did an E)
On scramble with premove...
R F' R B2 U R2 E' R2 give petrus block (yes, the big one)
EO was sorted out during blockbuilding...so straight on...

I Highlighted some stuff to save you some moves in your written solution ;-)

Nouxb question. How to save moves in that way?
Is there some way to turn the algs round?

May as well ask this too.
How do you deal with corner twists? Is there a more efficient way than twisting them directly?

pretty bleh indeed ;-)
Try this:

found pre-move B' (because I did an E)
On scramble with premove...
R F' R B2 U R2 E' R2 give petrus block (yes, the big one)

please allow me allow me to write your last two moves E' R2 as U' D B2 in true FMC style
premove B'
R F' R B2 U R2 U' D B2
L2 D2 L2 D2 L leaves 5 corners after 14+1 moves

edit: E' R2 is ofcourse U' D B2 instead of the D' I originally posted

The highligted U moves are all AUF at OLL / PLL stage and do not do anything apart from adding moves in your written solution.
For FMC (as the OP was adding the movecount) you would do U' F U R U' R' F' as L U F U' F' L'
I understand people do this in speedsolving as U turns are fatser than cube rotations but for FMC turning the whole cube is the way to go

Corners twists are best handled via insertions, solving them via 2 3-cycles.
Irontwig made a nice post a while ago showing that a 2-twist can be solves in about 8 moves this way.

Check this for an example solve by Irontwig:

L' D R2 D' L R2 (last corners)
D R2 U R2 U2 F2 U F2 (pair up corners, gives 4 bad edges but only 5 corners in total so skip bad edge fix)

R' L U2 L' R B2 (edge 3 cycle)
