Hi all,

Thanks to the admins and members of this forum. I'm fairly new to cubing...been able to solve a 3x3x3 for a couple of years now using a relatively slow beginner's method learned on YouTube quite awhile ago.

Looking to improve my solving time, and have also begun tinkering with a 4x4x4 (parity sucks!).

Hope to hang about quite a bit learning, even if I don't post much.

Hi, I'm from the UK too. Welcome!
If you're looking for a speedcubing method take a look at CFOP, Roux, ZZ, Petrus. They are the 'big four' for speedcubing.

Also try the Heise method. Very interesting method...

Cheers, mate. I'm actually from the US originally but have lived here since 2006.

Will take a look.

If you are new to advanced cubing, I definitely recommend you not looking at the Heise method. The others 5BLD named are definitely worth a look.

Welcome to the forum!
Ah, more 'advanced', then. I'm looking to start by probably learning to solve first-layer corners and edges simultaneously, which I still do as two separate steps.

Yup, that's CFOP F2L.
You might wanna experiment, maybe build a 2x2x2 block first and extend it like FreeFOP? or continue with petrus? Or even start with a 1x2x3 and do roux?
See which way is your favourite before embarking on your quest :)

Oh... Didn't see THAT interpretation.
I thought he meant cross, then first layer corners and (unspecified) edges simultaneously...
Who knows, he might be doing L2L4!

He implies doing cross and edges simultaneously. Maybe I'm understanding it wrong, but if I am, maybe he's like L2L4! :p

Ahhh, see that? I've obviously got to learn lots! I did intend to imply that I wanted to solve first layer cross (including correct orientation of cross edge pieces), then first layer corners whilst simultaneously doing middle layer edges.

Edit: Caveat - I only say this because it seemed like a good next step...

Right now I do very basic:

First layer cross (including correct orientation of edges)
First layer corners
middle layer edges (thus solving middle layer)
third layer cross
third layer corners

I'm from the UK as well :D Welcome to the forums ky00bN00b.
I must ask though, what happens when you progress into a cubing master, your name will contradict yourself surely? Nevermind.

Boop
