I've been using cubemania alot these few days, and my average has dropped dramatically, from about 17-15 (With some exceptions). I just did an average and got 12.66. I was going crazy but the first solve was an OLL skip and the third a PLL (I think, i know there were two lucky ones), should accept this average? Here's the individual times: 12.08, 12.55, 13.34, (11.66) and (14.58).

NOTE: That 11.66 was non-lucky but because i had a LL skip time of 8.25 on a previous average it wont register as a PB.

... best average of 5 is almost entirely luck-driven.
Yeah, just like in competitions.
But in competitions, you have a limited number of attempts. Unofficial averages of 5 are almost as meaningless as single times to me.
It's all a matter of how far you want to take it. Honestly, I find that averages of 10 are pretty meaningless in telling my 3x3x3 speed proficiency, but averages of 100 are pretty good. I've had several really lucky averages of 10; I know I'm nowhere near as "good" (in my case, definitely a relative term) as those might seem to indicate. If someone asks me what I average on 3x3x3, I usually give them my personal best average of 100 time. So right now, I'd say I average about 30 seconds. (My best avg of 100 is 30.22.)

I agree with this. My averages in competition are highly consistent with my at-home averages of 50 or more.

I think I would accept it just so I could see what I could really do. When i tell people my time I usually give them my best competition average, because in the end, thats what really matters, how well you perform when the lights are the brightest.

if i were you i wouldn't accept it...
i think it will take you (very much) time to set a new PB :D
maybe yes, maybe not..
but you will get angry (or at least i get when it happens the same to me) because you wont be able to improve your PB

Yeah i was thinking about that. But at least now i having something high to aim for, and i wouldnt have to take it into consideration when looking at the graph of my averages. I could just say "It was a really good average."
