Kept the 16.73 because it had a nice looking J perm. Reconstruction:

B R2 B D B L B2 L2 D F' U2 F2 R' L' D' B2 D L2 U' D2 F' R2 B' F2 L'

y LRU'R'y'R'D2U'R2
UR'URU'R'U'R
RU'R'U'RU'R'URU'R'
zUR'U'R'
U2RURU'R'U'R'U'RU'

42/8.13 = 5.166 tps

Guhong. ZZ is a method that not a lot of people use. It has blocks, but sometimes you can forget the blocks if an EO cross is visible.

If you want to read more you can check the wiki: http://www.speedsolving.com/wiki/index.php/ZZ

I use ZZ-VH as of now (with random CLS and ZBLL algs) but I'm looking to explore a variation that influences the LL. Not a lot of resources for those.

ok thanks. so the fact that you need only R, U, and L, moves makes it good for OH, right? and one more question. If it is a guhong how can you manage to use it for OH? i find it really hard to do R' with the pinky for OH on a small cube so a regular sized cube is beyond me!

On paper ZZ looks like an incredible method for OH but it has some serious drawbacks. EO line is incredibly hard to optimize in terms of move count. It's definitely more moves than a CN cross. After the EO line you have to look for three pieces to make a block. That is annoying and creates the pause that many people complain about when they see me solve. This makes ZZ splits different. I find the f2l to be a little slower but the LL a bit faster. Things get more comfortable after the EO line and first block. ZZ has a more practical 1LLL (which will definitely be good for OH) but I haven't gotten around to exploit that yet.

How often do you do EOCross? The first solve made me unhappy. =(

Jk, they were both awesome. =D

But seriously, this is so cool. About your three piece thing- do you locate three pieces before you start turning? Because I was under the impression that people located two pieces to make a pair, and as they join them tried to find the third edge. That seems more logical, and it's what I almost always do.
