Ok so I got my Guhong today. I bought the DIY version which at the moment I am thinking was not a good idea. I put it all together the right way which wasn't that hard. I turned the layers at the crappy tension and did some adjusting but the blue layer doesn't seem to turn any good. I have it tensioned to the point that the centre actually falls off and it still feels tight.

Does anyone have any suggestions. I haven't lubed it yet but I don't think thats the problem

There have been plenty of threads on this, but lube it, it works wonders. You should probably post this in the one answer question thread or something, next time. Try to search for all relevant information as well.

Maybe the spring on the blue side is the problem. Compare it with the other springs. Or maybe the side of the core is not well made. Or you can tighten all the sides and loosen them slowly until the tension feels comfortable for you.

It once happened to me that during assembly one of the springs did not go all the way down into the center piece, but stopped at the edge of the hole in the center piece. I noticed it before inserting the cap on the center and assembling the whole cube.

So, check it.

Yup, the core may be the problem. The cores that come with the GuHongs and Type C's aren't very good. Also check your screws, and compare them with each other. Compare length, and springyness. Look at the threading on the screws. If your hardware is uniform, switch cores. If not, switch cores and hardware.
