Yesterday, after seeing my solve of the cube that they think is very impressive (although it is just memorizing of algs:rolleyes:), they brought me a 5x5x5 one. I managed to solve one side and the three layers' edge pieces. but I need to know how to solve the remaining, any help? THanks

Try solving it centers first, then edges, then it is just a like a 3x3x3. Do you know how to solve a 4x4x4? It is just the same idea. I recommend this tutorial, and of course part 2 as well. Good luck!

Just use BigCubes.com, you only really have to learn 1-2 algs for it, the rest of it is intuitive.

Oh Masterofthebass, I just want to solve the 5x5x5 one. I do not care about the time, hehehe..... The problem is, in bigcubes.com, the algorithms are work only when the pieces are in the correct places as shown. Therefore, it makes a lot of troubles finding and align them in their correct position.

Anymore?

Thanks

Harry, do you even know how to solve a 4x4? I don't think so...

Well before you attempt solving a 5x5, I would strongly recommend learning how to solve a 4x4 first, because if you learn how to solve a 4x4, you can PROBABLY solve any bigger cube without any additional instruction.

Ok, I guess I said this in another thread, but bigcubes require intuition. This is my main reason for liking them much more than the smaller cubes (i.e. 2x2) If you can't figure it out with the guides that are out there, then you aren't ready to solve it. I would just give it up, and wait until you have more experience. There's a reason why the bigcubes are more of a challenge...

Whaddya mean by intuition? Is said in previous previous replies, the algorithms shown only work with pieces in correct position. That's the problem......

Thank you.... and how to require the experience?

The 5x5 doesn't have many algorithms. If you already know how to solve a 3x3, you need about say 5 algorithms. That's for parity, and most of the cube can be solved by intuition, or logic. As masterofthebass said before, if you can't understand the guides out there, you're not experienced enough to try to solve it. I already know you don't have a 4x4, but if you want to solve the 5x5 easily, you need to know how to solve the 4x4 first.
