Hi to all...

For those experts, I have question(s).

First, when I bought the cube about 2-3 months ago, they give a booklest on how to solve the cube. Then, i get into this website pjkcubed.com and it showed me a new method. My question is which is easier and faster? If you do not know what booklet, This is the steps form the booklet
1 Solve the cross
2 Complete that sides with the cross in up position
3 Turn it upside down and solve the 2 layer
4 Solve the cross (the colour is opposite of 1)
5 Solve the edge piece
6 Turn the corner piece
7 Complete the side (Ri Di R D)

Second, how you guys move your fingers to turn turn the front face and then turn the L or R or U or D or B layer? I can't do it fast ot took me about 5 seconds to do that.

Thanks for all of your help

pjk's Beginner Guide:
http://pjkcubed.com/rubiks-cube-beginners-guide.html

Okay I looked at pjk's guide, and the method he teaches is much better than the method the booklet teaches. It's a fast beginner's method, as some people have gotten lower than a 20 seconds average with the method pjk's teaches (with a couple of more algorithms). For the booklet from the cube your bought, you can probably only get a 25-30 second average tops.

I'll tell you why. For the booklet, it tells you to solve the first side/layer on the bottom. Solving the cross is ok to start on the top, but solving the corners on the top side is slow. You can move the U layer faster than the D layer, and you can also see where the rest of the corners are on the U layer.

The middle layer is done basically the same, and the two different algorithms from pjk's and the booklet don't differ too much.

Now comes the last layer. In the booklet, it orients, the edges, permutes the edges, then permutes the corners, then orients the corners. pjk's method orients edges, orients corners, permutes corners, then permutes corners. The main speed difference is permuting the corners. With pjk's method, you can easily permute the corners in about 3-5 seconds using just two algorithms. With the booklet, it may take you from 5-15 seconds! Because what if you have to orient all for corners on the U - layer with Ri Di R D? Very slow.

Also, for the last layer pjk teaches, the orientation steps and permutation steps can be combined into 2 steps, (more algorithms to learn), and that can be done much faster. I've never heard any combination orientations and permutations for the method the booklet teaches.

Yes, the booklet's method can get pretty fast, but the one pjk's teaches is faster, and it will be easier to learn a faster method later on with the method he teaches. Some of the tutorial videos on YouTube, show the booklet method, and I would suggest not to listen to them. Those people can't ever get 1 minute, and I heard a guy teaching you how to get faster when his average was 2 minutes. Seriously, they don't know what they're talking about. So pjk's tutorial is great, and you should switch/stick to that one.

Lol you're not the only one, I still get them mixed up. People just seem to throw them out there. I have the same problem with Mirror and inverse >.<

Another one Pcwiz. How about my last question about the finger tricks? Hope you can help me out. Thank you.

You can edit your posts using the edit button on the post if you didn't know that already.

If you want to be able to do finger tricks, you have to have a cube that moves fast. I would strongly recommend lubricating it if you don't already. If you already did, I would suggest looking for finger tricks on YouTube, or other more experienced people, because I'm not too familiar/good with finger tricks myself. One thing I can tell you is for turning the U layer, use your two pointer (index) fingers to move the U layer. Also for the R layer, turn the face using your entire hand, but only flick it so your hand stays in the same position. For the other layers, I'm not good a them, but it shouldn't be too necessary. Many algorithms many have R and U, so you should get used to those a lot. You might need a video or a person to teach you this - it's not that easy to explain in words. Remember, this only works on a fast cube. Finger tricks can help you get 9 turns on the cube per second:eek: Yeah, it's possible.

You can learn Frdrich method and about the finger tricks I use my left hand and turn the F face with my index finger while not rotating the cube in any way, shape, or form lol

you will develope your own fingertricks after cubing for a month or two butthat is what I do. Hope it helped.
