There's a lot of information out there about which cubes corner cut, which cubes are fast, which cubes are smooth/crispy. I haven't found much about what actually makes cubes the way they are- I've heard scattered things (for instance, rounding the corners of the AV reduces lock-ups) but not very many fundamental rules.

Does anyone have any information on what makes cubes corner cut, feel smooth, move quickly, etc?

Crispy: a bit uneven but not-that-much surfaces makes a cube feel crispy. If the cube uses a soft spring it will be "tender but crisp" (e.g. Maru).

Smooth: smoothness is not a specific aspect of the cube. A cube could be smooth but crispy, smooth and creamy, and smooth but crunchy. To make a cube crunchy the pieces have to be made very precisely and not hitting each other.

Creamy: creamy cubes have a very, very slight texture ion the contacting surfaces of the cubies. But to me, the creamy feel of the cube can be developed by use. For example, when i first got by type C it have a crunchy-crisp feel, and after breaking a little bit it becomes crispy. now that it is completely worn-out, being revived over and over again, it becomes unbelievablly creamy.

I am just simply mentioning the most common terms used here, but htere are actually a lot more (i.e. crunchy, sweet, bitter, clicky, sour, tender, etc).
