how do my pll execution times compare to my average times?
aka how do your pll execution times compare to your average times?
feel free to post your same stats for me >_>

best avg5: 14.35
best avg12: 15.91
best avg50: 16.57
best avg100: 17.11

which pll does it look like i need to execute better or even get a completely new alg for? for my execution times, i tried to start turning right when i let go of space and then hit as i finish turning, so it should be the actual execution time. these are my first 5 tries for each, so it takes into account about how often i would lock up trying to execute quickly.

i have 4 u-perms, but two of them are relatively new, so i haven't included their times yet.

Ua - R2U'R'U'RU-RURU'R

Na - standard one performed with U as R
2.54 - 2.74, 2.10, 2.27, 2.62, 3.30

Nb - standard
3.20 - 3.69, 3.07, 3.27, 3.26, 3.03

E - rowe hess e? i try, at least lol
1.79 - 1.70, 2.49, 1.72, 1.94, 1.70

G perms... uh.... there are a lot. i do the standard old ones, i think. each one is the mirror of the other, performed from whatever other angle. i see there is at least one new g-perm, i haven't tried it before.

going by cubefreak.net's PLL list:

G (n16)
2.65 - 2.74, 2.86, 2.39, 1.97, 2.81 (so many slip-ups and lock-ups ><)

G (n17)
3.17 - 3.04, 3.88, 3.48, 2.97, 3.00

G (n18)
2.5 - 2.24, 1.95, 2.97, 2.28, 3.14

G (n19)
2.63 - 2.46, 2.50, 3.20, 2.93, 2.43 (i had to restart this cuz i get so confused when i can't see the G lol)

AVERAGE PLL EXECUTION TIME: 2.28 i think? lol too many numbers

it seems my F and my G's really suck over anything else lol.

I have a complete LL fail, ask jms_gears. If I get an easy to recog/recall OLL and PLL, I have a 4-6 second LL (not too bad), but I often have a 10+ sec LL and I'm a low 20ish average. My problem is I learned my OLLs too fast and my recall isn't always great, and my G perms set me back so far.

I need help with G perms I think, maybe even a new alg. The rest of my PLLs are fine. I can sub2 T, J, H, Z, and sub4 everything else except G's and N's.

That is absolutely incredible. What algs do you use (Intersted in RUD G-perm)? And are these records, averages of five, or something else?

i am open to suggestions on new PLL. however, it'd be great if you could do a quick average of 5 with it.

the Jb suggested there looks fast to execute, but it's also 3 moves more than my current Jb. my current J's are a corner cycle alg + sune. it seems to me it's slightly faster to do anti-sune + corner cycle alg, so i may be switching to that for the normal direction soon.

yeah, see stuff like u-perm in .7 seconds seems impossibly fast to me. not sure if this is something you can explain, but what should i be doing to speed up my algs other than just doing them a bunch of times? i get the feeling that my R and R' turns are just too slow or something lol.

@Anonymous: They are single records, not sure about avgs of 5, I only really go for good singles when timing alg practice.

The <R, U, D> G perm I use is R' U' R U D' R2 U R' U R U' R U' R2 D.

I use pretty much standard algorithms, perhaps the only really unusual ones are my
ccw A: x' R2 U2 R D R' U2 R D' R x
and Ra: R U R' F' R U2 R' U2 R' F R U R U2 R'

I'm thinking of making a PLL video with a fast execution of each and a slow exec with the alg...

I've seen some kids on youtube do sub1 J perms (the inverted T perm) and sub1 U Perms (0.8x).

Rowan: Can you post your N and G Perms? And your finger tricks? I'm quite envious of your sub1.5 times on N :(

Ninja'd, but can you post all 4 G Perms along with both N's? :D:D I definitely wouldn't complain about a video either :D:D

Edit: I guess my G's are all sub3, but I know I can't sub3 a g perm in an actual solve. I'm going to try slowing down whenever I execute G Perms during a solve. I still struggle to sub4 my N's though.

Well erm, I guess a good thing is to go back to the very, very basics and just analyse how you hold your cube, how you set you cube etc. Then go over through each alg and see if you're doing anything inefficiently or if there are better ways of approaching a turn or a slightly different grip. I find a good way is to practice like a musician practices scales: Do the alg 12 times slowly, if you get one mess up start again, then do it 12 times faster, if you mess up that fast you start from the beginning again, and get faster and faster from there. You can also try practising with stiffer cubes to build hand strength.

Of course, you could just do it a truckload of times...

With individual algs though, I guess with a PLL video I can show you a few little fingertricks I use.

i'm not so much interested in fingertricks as i am the general idea of doing these algs in .7-.8 seconds at all. did this turn speed come with a lot of pll-specific practice? did you just keep doing solves until your plls got to the speed they are now?

edit: nvm you posted pretty much answering my question at the exact same time as me *facepalm*

@fatboy:

Na: R U R' U (J perm: R U R' F' R U R' U' R' F R2 U' R') U' R U' R'
Nb: R' U R U' R' F' U' F R U R' F R' F' R U' R

This 2nd one above feels a bit weird, but in a video I'd be able to show how I do the F's...

The other G perms I use are completely standard, but I guess a couple of things I do are ways of doing the same algs but with different starts, like L' U' L for the one that normally starts R' U' R, or finishing with f' U' f instead of y R U' R'. Something like that anyway.

the Jb suggested there looks fast to execute, but it's also 3 moves more than my current Jb. my current J's are a corner cycle alg + sune. it seems to me it's slightly faster to do anti-sune + corner cycle alg, so i may be switching to that for the normal direction soon.

I am not the person to ask about speed, but I can execute it at about the speed of the T Perm.

I average about the same as you... here are my PLL times: (avg5)

Please do.

My PLLs are pretty slow. :o

Hmm.. Interesting. Different from what I thought it would be. H or Ua felt like my fastest PLL but T was. Ab was lower than I thought it would be. I thought that it would be faster. Gc seems really out of place. Overall, I'm suprised that my slowest PLL is 2.53. I thought it would be close to three seconds. The overall average is sub 2 (unweighted, I'm lazy leave me alone). This should set me up for a sub 40 time attack yet I'm barley sub 50. :/

Once again. T perm. What. Did not expect that. F is another suprise but then again I use R' U' F' T perm or whatever so that's to be expected I guess. Ab once again is a failure. I notice that lots of my slow PLLs are right up there in the 6 TPS area, PLLs such as V, Na, Nb. The H and Z are way on the bottom because I do M moves Lw2 L'2 so it's 2 moves that I counted as one (I did TPS in STM).

Rowan I love your N perms! The Na is BEAUTIFUL! I can execute that so much quicker! I have already sub3'd it just by recognizing what you did with the RUR'U, which by the way you forgot the U' in the end of the J Perm you showed.

I use weird G perms as well, although I like your RUD G Perm. With my g perms, I learned them a bit different to make learning all 4 easier. I learned two with my right hand, then just did the mirrors. Really all I need to do is learn the two I know with my right hand, backwards, and I'll have all 4 with the right hand.
