How do you make a maru 4x4 good?

I got my maru 4x4 a few days ago, and despite the high praise it's gotten, I'm less than impressed with it.
The only other 4x4 I have is an eastsheen, which I absolutely hate, so I was kinda hoping that the maru would be way better than that, hopefully smooth and nice to turn, almost like a 3x3.
But, while the maru is definitely an improvement over the eastsheen, it still doesn't feel like a good cube to me. Locks up a lot, doesn't cut corners too well, VERY loud and clicky.
Does it just need some significant amount of breaking in, or some lubing or something? Maybe there is some way I could mod it to improve things?

The best way to lube a cube is to take of the 2 wings and put a drop on each side.

Then you turn the cube 90 degrees and repeat it

Breaking in a 4x4 should be like 40-50 solves or less

How many drops of Maru lube? And how do you open maru 4x4 to lube it

You don't...

open...

the cube...

Just make it try and cut a wide corner, and some of the insides should be in clear sight. Put some drops on that area and repeat over the day, and it'll be good. I put like 3 servings of 3 drops each, and lube whenever you feel it needs it.
