Hi Everybody,

I've heard that DIY (Do it Yourself) 3x3 cubes are very popular because you can adjust the center piece tension, making the cube go amazingly fast. It is also good at cutting corners.

Are there DIYs for other cubes? Examples 5x5s, 4x4s, 2x2s, ect.

I heard there are 2x2 springy cubes so they can adjust the tension or something but are those like 3x3 DIYs?

Also I heard the Eastsheen cubes are really good. When comparing those cubes to 3x3 DIYs, which are better? (By the way I'm getting Eastsheen 2x2, 4x4, and 5x5 REAL SOON:))

Yeah but MABYE you weren't reading my message thoroughly enough.

Eastsheen makes great cubes that are not 3x3s. Well they turn good.

DIYs also turn good.

Is the turning speed/smoothness/cutting corners for an Eastsheen 2x2/4x4/5x5 better than a 3x3 DIYs?

And do DIYs for other cubes exist?

In my opinion I think 3x3 DIYS (Rubik's/Chinese) are better than Eastsheens overall, however ES Cubes have smooth rotation, they don't cut corners as well and sometimes the 4x4 or 5x5 locks up. I personally don't like the 5x5 as I have big hands, I'm currently waiting for my 2x2 and 4x4.

Thank You!

Oh Okay, thanks for a real answer to this post!:)

Unless you modify your ES cube they do not have springs in them so cannot cut corners well like DIYs do. They do however turn very well.

Oh I think the best answer yet! :) Thanks! and by springs do you mean springs in the core?

Then you haven't tried Erik's or mine 4x4x4 or Erik's 'lost' 5x5x5 Eastheen cubes. :)
I once even traded my Eastheen 4x4x4 cube to Ron because he said it was the FIRST Eastheen 4x4x4 that he liked and found smooth.
Where can I get one of these "Eastheen" cubes? :p

You can buy them on ebay, especially from huskyomega

You can get it from cube4you.
Er, I don't think you got the joke.. I know what an Eastsheen cube is. I was just making a joke out of Rama constantly calling them "Eastheen" cubes.

Oh.. I wasn't really reading Rama's message, and I stink at understand jokes, especially when it is written/typed. I was a little suspicious because you were a senior member..

By springs I just mean springs... like springs that allow the centers to moves. But of course sans modifications I don't think any big cubes have springs by default.

Oh okay. Are they a lot better than Square-1s? Like ar ethe a lot better as 33 DIYs are a lot better than store0bought 3x3s?

do you have a "Store-bought Square-1"???!??!?! if you are asking if they are better than the ones for 1$. i would have to say no.
The cheaper ones tend to be on the better side. If you get more than 10 of them, you can combine them and make a Square-10.

:D
