V-cubes

Most of us don't know, since they haven't been released yet. There are a few elite cubers who have won V-Cbue prototypes. The rest of us are - at best - guessing.

If you do a search on this forum, you'll see that Erik Akkersdijk has commented about his V-Cube prototype - I hate to paraphrase anything he's said since he's here to speak for himself. If you can't find it under V-Cube, look for Olympic Cube (their former name).

Larger cubes tend to be less stable than smaller ones. This is one possible reason that Rubik's and Eastsheen don't make higher order cubes (i.e., larger than 5x5x5). V-Cubes have redesigned the interior mechanism and claim to be able to build higher order cubes that are stable and that rotate smoothly. In fact, they claim to be able to build cubes of an "unlimited number of layers." However, I remain a bit skeptical.

As far as I know, they are only planning to release the 5x5x5, 6x6x6 & 7x7x7 cubes this year. This isn't the first time they've promised to release them, so don't hold your breath. Maybe they'll come through this time. Maybe they won't. Until they do, none of us will be able to fairly and honestly evaluate them.

The reason that nobody made a > 5x5x5 is because it was thought impossible (mechanically). V-Cubes has found a way to do it.

The 5x5x5, 6x6x6 and 7x7x7 I have tested work great "out of the box". They are stable, don't pop and move fast.
After a couple of months Eriks V-Cube has become a bit loose and isn't as good as it once was, but it is still pretty good (and it was only a prototype).

I have never seen a < 5x5x5 V-Cube, but I would like to buy a "full pack" ranging from a 1x1x1 to a 11x11x11

Of course V-Cubes are the best, they have patented 'V-Cube technology' (chortle)

It's a joke, making fun of the V-Cube website.

V-CUBE™ products are manufactured under the V-CUBE™ technology, invented and patented worldwide by the Greek engineer Panagiotis Verdes. V-CUBE™ technology made possible the construction of cubes, of an unlimited number of layers providing safe and smooth rotation.

The use of V-CUBE™ technology made feasible the construction of cubes of more than 5 layers, something that believed to be unattainable for over 20 years. In order to prove this, Mr P.VERDES and his team are presenting the V-CUBE 6 and the V-CUBE 7 !

At the same time, V-CUBE™ technology has resulted to the design, construction & industrial production of smoother, safer and sturdier cubes of existing sizes (V-CUBE 5). Furthermore, existing knowhow & patent ownership allows the construction of more complex designs, such as the V-CUBE 11.

I found the way it repeated 'V-CUBE™ technology" was pretty funny. Makes it sound high tech.

Well,

The V-cubes are supposed to be better made than the Rubiks 5x5x5 cube.
More smoother, less heavier and better

hopefully it's not going to cost the bomb that it's supposed to... hmmm... But it'd be so cool to have a really big cube... 6x6x6.. :)
