I'm wondering if there is a more efficient way to practice.

I cube probably 2 hours a day, solving it as fast as I can. I try to lookahead during those solves. should i devote many solves just to going slow and specifically focusing on tracking?

how do you do practice sessions?

AO50. Or any random number you can make it to..

so in other words, just continue solving? im worried that im not practicing lookahead much, though i dont know whether people actually devote solves to just doing lookahead (then LL as fast as you can)

Well, that's what I do. You could also consider PLL time attacks, doing a certain step over and over again..

this may sound newb, and ive heard of PLL time attacks, what are they? just doing every PLL? is there a program for this?

how e ffective is your way of practicing? Just wondering :). How would you rate it?

ty neo. ill probably do that. cross takes me too long..4 seconds :-/
edit-its probably around 3..

On a normal day practicing is just solving for me. If I have extra time I'll try to remember as many PLLs as I can, or practice look ahead, but normally I just solve the cube. And I'm getting better!

I believe badmephisto has a pll trainer. that you have to download.
http://www.badmephisto.com/pll.php

Pretty much you just do all 21 plls in a row. It doesn't matter what order, you just need to do them. I don't think it needs to be in its solved state either.

Well I probably bet theres better ways of practicing, but it does help me improve. Watching youtube tuts here and there and practicing whenever I can.

I guess I would give it a 7.5/10.

I just simply solve the cube over and over again with a metronome to improve my look ahead and I also try to memorize all of the algorithms. I currently have a PB of 22 seconds with half of the OLLs and 4 Plls. Is that good? Pls reply

It mainly depends on what you want to improve on because each step (I'm assuming CFOP) requires a different way to practice.
Cross: Advanced, fewest move count, blindfolded (for looking ahead in transition to F2L), Extended
F2L: New algorithms, looking ahead, fewest move cont, different angles
OLL/PLL: Recognition time (using a specific trainer), AUF, Execution time (time attacks, re-doing the algorithms over and over)

This is all I can think of atm.

solving it as fast as I can... try to lookahead

Going as fast as you can is NOT good for practising look ahead.
Go slower and try to eliminate all pauses. Goals is to be able to keep turning at a constant pace.
As Chris Hardwick explained me a few weeks ago: "Slow is fast"!

Offcourse you should also practice fast solves but definately spend some time going slow.

Good advice by Erdos too!

Some of those are definitely off of my norm, i avg 1.4ish for U perms

ok, just did some cross averages

cross=4 seconds
OLL=3 seconds abouit
PLL (depends on which)=2-4 seconds

That's about 10 seconds there without doing f2l pairs..hmm

ill spend all of my practice sessions going slow and looking ahead now i guess :)

I just solve it over and over whenever I feel like it. I hand scramble the cube and solve it while watching TV or something. I do it at about 80/90% speed and just go full speed when timing myself, which happens about once a week.

You can do AOx daily if you want, but to me that feels like an obligation and I end up solving at full speed since I'm against the clock, so I don't really progress as much.

Lets put it this way

Doing x amount of solves isn't going to improve your times.

Doing x amount of solves while realizing what can be improved and what's wrong with your solves will not improve your times.

Doing x amount of solves while realizing what can be improved and what's wrong with your solves AND actually trying to fix them will improve your times.
