I really need help warming up.
In mid day and after I always am getting about my average: 20ish.
But in the morning and such, when my hands are stiff and I'm not in the click of cubing, I get HORRIBLE times(25ish!!!!).

So I am thinking of the Princeton Open which is quite early in the morning, how shall I warm up? How shall I get to that 20ish average(and possibly sub 20!)?

Any suggestions other than just doing a lot of solving(which takes forever, takes me like 30 min. of straight cubing to get warmed up that way..).

I was thinking of doing a couple BLD's and playing with the 5x5, and maybe a couple PLL time attacks, then a couple more solves. That might be a good routine, but I'm not sure..

Well everybody has their own way of warming up, but my way is to do a couple avg's of 10 for F2L. This helps your look ahead, and loosens up your hands so they are not as stiff.

P.S. I'll see you at Princeton.

I warm up by playing guitar or drums.
Playing video-games works.

Wash your hands with warm water?

It defrosts your hands and gives a better grip of the cube.

What works best for me: do a couple of "one-handeds" (or at least try) with both hands!they'll be warmed up in no time and your grip will be far better.

That could work, but you should be in a warm room then, because if the room is cold then your hands will even get much colder.

Slow turning or 5x5x5 solving. The last one I use before/during the 3x3x3 finals.

My way of warming up is very interesting. I wake up early, eat, do the usual human morning stuff. On the way there, I cube like crazy. Sometimes, I warm up my hands by sitting on them or putting them in a warm body place. Basically, if I cube intensely for one hour straight, I will be ready for competitions.

Which warm body place?

Kneepit, duh. :)

My hands generally only need to be warmed up by getting stretched out, seeing as I have a good endurance of the cold. Handstands, pushups, and coffee cover stretching my fingers out. OH solves really help, or simply doing some solves while trying to turn the cube insanely fast. Your times won't be good, but your fingers will be :)

For some reason, doing R U R' a very large number of times seems to help me. No, it's not R U R' U'. I'd be doing the latter had I not yet mastered the left index finger flick...
