Hi everyone!

My name is Suzanne and im 19 years old. I live in Belgium (in Europe).
My hobbies are playing WoW (though im on a break) and Sims and ofcourse Cubing.

I began cubing a week ago xD I saw a video on youtube and remembered i had one from when I was like 10. I bought a new one and started to view 'how to solve' videos. Id like to get better and faster.

I havent timed it (yet) but i think (dont faint) my time is arount 30 minutes. Yes thats long; I can solve the first 2 layers then do something wong and start all over. Also note im cubing with one hand only; got operated on the other so yeah.

anyway this forum looks like fun and i hope to see u guys alot, get new good cubes over the months (only have 3x3x3) and get better!

Greets Suzanne

OK, someone's gotta be the first to say hi.

Hi Suzanne,
welcome to speedsolving.

Too bad to learn about your hand but one thing you can be sure off: you're set for one of the most drastic time-improvements ever once your hand heals.

Some tips: chek out Badmephisto on youtube and on his website for some great tutorials.
The Belgian Open 2010 is just two weeks from now so if you want to see some real die hard solving just come to Leuven.

Groetjes,
Ralph

Thanks =) Maybe ill come and see some cubers :) Didnt know there was an belgian open :o

Sorry about the 2 threads, i though one didnt come through cuz the internet blocked. Feel free to delete that thread :p

Im sure to watch Badmephisto's videos! Thanks :)

Welcome, Suzanne. Don't worry about the double post, I took care of it.

Looking forward to your improvement after your hand heals. One of the most important skills in speed solving is look ahead, finding your next piece(s) to solve before you need them. You can use your slower one-handedness to work on that until you can switch back to two handed. :-)

Yeah Badmephisto has the best tutorial on youtube, don't learn from Dan Brown's his tutorial makes it hard to get faster and learn new methods.

oops too late xD I actually learnt it from his videos. But i watched Badmephisto's and i think im gonna swith to his methode :)

Hello. And welcome.
My one suggestion to new cubers is to find a method you like and use that one.
Some that you will see mentioned are, in no specific order:
Petrus, Roux, CFOP (Fridrich), ZZ
Each have strengths and weaknesses and all of them have easier, beginner ways to solve the cube and harder, advanced ways to solve it.
Just familiarize yourself with a lot of methods and you learn a lot of neat little tricks that making speed solving more fun.

Ah, but two wongs can make it white!
And 3 Rs make R'!

And 2 R2s make .

Good decision. That's what I had to do as well :D

And welcome. Once your hand is healed I'm sure you'll see plenty of improvement.
