Hi!

I was thinking about how I solve new puzzle in the bus. (I always find how to solve my new puzzle when I'm in the bus :P).

I always modify/adapt the Friedrich method for beginners or adapted CFOP (like for the Siamese or Fused Cube).

Do people using Roux or ZZ (or another method) to solve new puzzles?

For example, can you adapt Roux to solve the megaminx or the Fisher Cube for the first time by yourself? Which method is more adaptable?

This question should be in ''One answer question thread'' :P
When I'm at PLL on CFOP, I always AUF then I do cube rotations until I'm at the good orientation to do my algorithm...Should I learn to recognize the PLL without AUF?

Yes. I adapted Roux for Megaminx.

I only do cubic speedsolves. Right now 2x2 and 3x3, soon 4x4 and 5x5. I use Roux for all of them.

i use Roux for my pyra, 3x3, 2x2, megaminx, stackmat, telephone, cellphone, remote, papers and reports, 4x4, 5x5, CRC, lamp, puppy, sq-1 etc.

Roux rawks.

What would make me want to learn this method when I know all PLLand 20 OLLs and most F2L?

Roux is easy. I suggest trying it. The only algs you need are for the corners, you can use the 2L OLL for this. Just ignore the top cross not being there, then do an A or E perm.

Even if you don't use it as your main method it should help you understand how the cube works.

The concepts behind Fridrich - LBL or cross+F2L, OLL+PLL - are easily adaptable to most cubes, cube shape modifications, megaminx/pyraminx, etc. Roux is a very 3x3-specific method.

Yes. I adapted Roux for Megaminx.

I remember making Rouxgaminx as a joke at Nats last year.

Anyway, most LBL stuff can be adapted to a few puzzles, but Kirjava is right if you're just interested in knowing what can be applied to the most things.
