Well, i have been using my rubik's cube for about 3 weeks so do i need to sand, break in and lubricate my cube ???

What worked for my storebought: a few drips of silicone oil.

Turns much better since but offcourse lubing does not improve corner cutting ability. Using it a lot improved the looseness to a certain extent but it is still no way near the looseness of my F-II.

I've been using storebought rubik's for 6 months, and I can probably answer that for you.
These cubes are crap. Seriously. First of all there is the luck factor: I've seen cubes that are very nice out of the box and others that needed months of breaking in (like the one I'm using currently). So if you break your cube in and lubricate it (they react beautifully to silicon spray, mind you) it will be fine temporarily. However, you'll find that as much as you manage to improve turning speed and avoid lock ups and improve cutting, it's only temporal as I said. When I lubed my current cube, it was unbelievably awesome; could do double turns with just one push, didn't lock at all. I easily broke my PB because of the cube. Yet a week later, it started to become crap again, the turning speed was reduced significantly but the worst part was the overturn and lock ups; by overturn I mean that although the turning speed wasn't so high, it was way too easy to turn another layer than the one you were intending to turn by mistake. So now I'm using this and it's crap mainly because it freezes and needs to be perfectly aligned each time you need to make a turn, so cutting is nearly impossible. So I've ordered a DIY and waiting for it to arrive, until then I just learn PLLs because I know there just isn't the cube for me to practice my turning speed.
At least it never pops, contrary to the 4x4 and 5x5 rubik's. Btw, don't EVER get these. If you do you must then eat yellow snow and die.

TL;DR: practise with this cube a lot, and after a couple of weeks it may be time to lubricate it. It requires a lot of breaking in, but finally you might receive good turning speed, if and only you're lucky.

Get a Ghost Hand or a Fii, they are not expensive and they are way better. Stop buying storeboughts, they are way to expensive for bad quality!

Get miniQJ 4x4x4 OR YJ 4x4x4 II if you want to mod it, 'cause it rules.

If you're a beginner, use a storebought. Break it in, sand with the 24-Mod (Make the edges squircle, sand off the bumpy stuff on the corners, and sand off grooves on the center pieces), and lube it. Once you are sub-1 minute, use a DIY, preferably a F II, Taiyan, Ghost Hand, or Cii

When you have questions like that, please google it first, and then ask HERE.

I did the dirt mod thing to mine, where ya put in some dirt and work it in for ~15 minutes. I cleaned it, used it for a day, then rounded the corners a little and cleaned it again. After lubing it with CRC it moved surprisingly well. I could get it to cut corners at maybe a 30 degree angle. You can try forcing some cuts slightly until it does it better. It was definitely a viable speedcube, but not the best.

absolute BS, i cannot see how a beginner would at all benefit from using a storebought

@cincyaviation: Of COURSE they will, beginners drop their cubes often and have anger issues (some people) The Storebought is the STRONGEST cube around. Plus, they need to feel the pain everyone else did when they started cubing.
