Speedcubing seems to be lacking in Denmark for some reason, but I'm trying to find other danes and maybe set up a danish speedcubing community to help improve the generel interest of speedcubing in our country.

So...are there any danes out there?

If your not danish I would still like to hear your ideas on how to improve the interest for speedcubing in your local area. Has anyone tried such a project before? and how well did you do?

Hi,
I'm from Austria and it's the same out here. I tought some people a beginner method how to solve the Cube and some of them also started training for speed.

Building up a community is no problem if enough people are interested in it, and I can tell you, once they saw you doing it really fast, they are.

Mostly when I show a fast solve to people they start of impressed, but then sighs in despair and talk about how they will never learn.

I had an idea of going to the local chess club hoping they would be less intimidated.

Sin-H, how many people did you teach? I'm thinking, I only have 3 3x3x3 cubes wich would set back things a bit I imagine.

Well,
1. It's true, they say that they would never be able to solve it. But if I tell them that it's just 5 algs to learn to solve it, they're interested in it. And some of them also want to get faster later and start learning CFOP.

2. I taught about 12 people how to solve the Cube right now. I've got about 6 Cubes. But you don't have to teach it to them simultaneously and some people might even have one at home. And if they know how to solve your Cubes, I think that they will buy one for themselves. That's what happened here.

I am from Denmark.. and you know it, else you wouldnt have contacted me. :P

I have taught many people how to solve the cube LBL. but only one fridrich F2L. I too, wish we were more cubers around here.

well my advice would be to teach as many people you can and hope for the best. :)

or we could start making a campaign or something ;)

Alla danskar är välkomna till SveKub (hej Dennis =) och delta i forumet där, ni kan göra som Henrik, läsa svenska men skriva svar på engelska om ni vill, det går bra =)

(All Danes are welcome to SveKub and join the forum there, you can do as Henrik, read in Swedish but write the replys in English if you like, that's OK)

Thank you Dennis for the nice words.
I have been reading here for weeks and today I wanted to join. I know Lars and I have tryed to talk to you Doubleyou over email but hey but now we got a hold of you.
Så nu kender jeg til 4 online danskere hvis vi tæller Jess med.
Og ja bare kom over til svenskerne, det er fint at være der ovre. det svenske sprog kommer hurtigt.
Ny PB idag 13,33 sek single

@Henrik, Good job!! tillykke! du er ret hurtig hva??
(sorry for speaking a foreign language here)
what do you mean; get over to the swedish? on the forum? I will, now or soon

Yes the Swedish forum.
Lige nu er der en før-Svenske mesterskaber tunering. Jeg klarer mig udemærket på magic master og snake. det er ret sjovt at være med i og se hvor god man er i forhold til svenskerne.
Sorry for speaking danish.

Sorry for the necromansy, but any danes out there that still are active, and living in or near Copenhagen ? I would gladly give a beer or 10 for a hint or two.
Plus, i got a football table in my living room...

We are a little more than a handfull of active speedcubers in Denmark. The elite one living in fyn and the hopefull ones in copenhagen and myself in jyderup an hour from copenhagen if you didn't know.

But check out the link from Kenneth.

Oh nice, thanks, i will look that link over...
Not that good yet (still hopefull as you put it)... around 35 secs for a avg of 12 solve on a good day.

35 sec avg is not bad. You should come to the Danish Open 2008 in March. And if you would like to meet up sooner look at the forum in speedcubing.dk under "konkurrence - møde før DM"
