East sheen 4x4

Is the eastsheen 4x4 DIY Speed solvable right out of the box? If not, what can I do to make it speed solvable?

Breaking it in would help a lot, but I suggest you get a Mini QJ or a Mefferts (same as QJ). They can cut corners better than the Eastsheen. The Eastsheen is fast, but it is known to die off after using it awhile.

sooo... what about all the sub 1 cubers that used eastsheens before dem fancy QJ's 'n YJ's came here?


I suppose eastsheens are speedsolvable. They're smooth out of the box but don't cut corners well. QJ's are probably a better way to go.

I think that ES 4x4s are perfectly fine out of the box after a little breaking in. A lot of people, including me, don't like ES lubed up. I think it's way too loose after that. It seems like cutting corners is horrible after lube too. The layers always overturn.

I just got a mini QJ 4x4 in the mail a few days ago and haven't done anything to it at all. I broke all of my PB's on my first solves. I did 51 solves because of how good I was doing and the session average was well beyond my previous average of 5 with an ES.

Eastsheens are difficult to speed solve with. I can still get sub 2 minutes with them.
