hmm i made this thread to see how many positions a cuber could do a PLL without rotating and hopefully learn some better algs for different positions

Please list how many positions you can do on a PLL without a rotation(excluding rotations inside the algorithm) for two handed 3x3 speedsolving.

for me (I use all for speed solving)

H-1 well technically 4
Ua-3
Ub-3
Z- 2 but techincally 4
Aa- 3
Ab- 3
E- 2 but technically 4
F- 3
Ga- 2
Gb- 3
Gc- 2
Gd- 3
Ja- 3
Jb- 3
Na-2 technically 4
Nb-1 techincally 2
Ra-4
Rb-4
T-2
V-2
Y-1

I think a U

U' or y [Alg] y' is quicker than mirroring algorithms, unless you memorize a different algorithm for each position.

What about people that can do PLLs on any of the 6 faces? Why are we neglecting them? In theory, I could do H perm from any position on the cube.

well I ask how many you can do without rotation so its not really neglected at all? But if you some how solved the OLL or whatever without the PLL being on top, then by all means tell me you can solve the PLL in 24 positions....

For the G-perms, I learned 2 ways for each of them. One when the headlights are aligned, and one when the 1x2 block is aligned. When I finish my OLL, if I see either a block or headlights, I align them and do the appropriate alg.

For all the other ones, I just do a rotation. It is faster to rotate than to the alg with awkward fingering.

yeah I use the same G's I know the double layer turn G's and the (UD) G's

and Idk most perms have good algs for different positions so not really awkward. i like to learn them =p

I actually find this quite interesting. I've recently put some effort into this, along with 2-side recognition.

My favorite trick is the Y-perm.

Normal: FRU'R'U'RUR'F'RUR'U'R'FRF'
What I use from the back: L2U'L'ULU'x'zL'U'RU'R'U'LU
(Based on alg I don't use for 2H: R2U'R'URU'x'z'L'U'RU'R'U'LU)

Use / Can do

H - 4/4
Ua - 2/4
Ub -2/4
Z - 4/4
Aa - 3/4
Ab- 3/4
E - 2/4
F - 1/2
Ga - 1/2
Gb - 2/2
Gc - 1/2
Gd - 2/2
Ja - 1/2
Jb - 1/2
Na - 4/4
Nb - 4/4
Ra - 2/3
Rb - 1/1
T - 1/1
V - 1/2
Y - 2/2

Ok then. I can do 4/4 for all of them. I just add a U face turn before.

hmm thanks for that alg Lucas, and nice Dene I do that for a few of them too. namely the J and R perms probably some more but idr off the top of my head.

I know lefty R from 4 angles :D Still slow at all the algs though :P

U 3 (mostly use 2 for speed, 3 for bld)
A 1 (I should learn these)
Z 1 (Z ends in a U turn, so I usually try cancel)
H lolwat
E 2 (but only use 1 now)
J/L/Jb 2
Ja 2
Right R 1
Lefty R 4
N 4
N 4
Y 1 (maybe I should lucas' alg or something)
V 1
G 1 (come on :|)
T 2 (Lefty and Righty and Right with U2 AUF)
F 2 (front and back)

I only perform PLLs from a single U face angle (I'm stupid and have difficulty learning algorithms) - I also AUF prior to performing PLL as it assists recognition (I'm stupid and take a long time to recognise a PLL) and allows me to complete PLL whilst putting the cube down and reaching for the timer (I'm slow, and stupid (did I mention that?) so it makes little difference, but I like to play at being a speedcuber :) ).

Depends on perm. Like I can do any G perm without U turn though some are slower than others and I don't know what is Ga,Gb,Gc,Gd. I can also do R perm from all angles and J perm from most angles.

Some perm I can do from 2 angles like Z perm I do <MU> in 1 angle and <RU> in another angle.

Then some perm I can only do from 1 angle like U perm. Ironically it's the fastest.

Am I special? These are counting after AUF with no U/U'

 U'/U.

Edge perms-all:
H-1 (the max)
Z-2 (the max)
Ua-4 (the max)
Ub-4 (the max)

Corner perms-all
E-2 (the max)
Aa-4 (the max)
Ab-4 (the max)

Other:
F-4 (one amazing alg does it all!)
Ga-2
Gb-2
Gc-2
Gd-2
Ja-3
Jb-3
Na-1 (the min)
Nb-1 (the min)
Ra-4 (the max)
Rb-4 (the max)
T-2
V-2
Y-1 (the min)

Most of these algs are unique. Some are mirrored. I spent months learning just PLLs, trying to get them as fast as possible. And now, with ZBLL, I have that same problem.
