NO! What is Chuck Norris saw it?
I have an old type C I that has what I think is a Type A core and the old screw+washer+spring system.

1) What should I do to mod thins? I heard that if you add the new C4Y screws and springs and put the spring with the fat end the other way, and with a type A core, this is a good combo for a mod.

2) My core is yellow. A type A core is also yellow. Are they the same? I got my Type C from Ebay by RubikFans a year and half ago, but I think it came with a type A core. Any tips on assurance?

That's fine I understand. Anyway, I'm gonna post my cubing brief here because you just joined, just so you get a basic idea of the forum.

So first of, this forum is filled with some very awesome and dedicated members and we all want to help each other get better. Most everyone is friendly as long as you...

1. Use proper grammar and spelling.

2. Use the search function that you can find in the top left corner of every page on the forum. See if your question has been answered already, or if it belongs in the One Answer Question Thread . I made a short list of threads that you shouldn't make because they have been made before or because your question/discovery (you know what I mean) belongs inside of an already made thread (For example "What does the move F' mean" belongs in the One Answer Question Thread). Here's the list: http://www.speedsolving.com/forum/showthread.php?p=316191

3. Don't make claims that aren't true or try and argue something you know nothing about. (I'm not trying to be mean, just giving you all the information I can. :) )

4 (Optional, but strongly recomended). Lurk around the forum before posting. Not really necessary if you feel comfortable with what your posting.

5. Try and better the community. It's what we all want.

Also, just in the general scheme of "speedcubing", there are two types of solve: Lucky and Non-lucky. A "lucky solve" means you had a skip (IE. PLL / OLL skip.) A non-lucky solve means you completed all the steps. There are also single solves and averages, (in competition, you do an average of 5 to determine where you place in the competition). The world record official solve is 7.08 seconds, done by Erik Akkersdijk . It was a lucky solve, because he got a PLL skip. Heres a Video of it. The world record average was recently set by Feliks Zemdegs. It is the first official sub 10 average in competition. Video of it. Both Feliks and Erik are members of this community, as well as many other amazing cubers. There are tons of events, like Big Cubes, in which Dan Cohen reigns supreme. Heres a list of official events, and the best times in those events. http://www.worldcubeassociation.org/results/events.php . You can find some great tutorials from people on youtube like BadMephisto . The wiki is a collection of all our cubing knowledge. If we have an alg, it's there. Have fun getting better and enjoy the forums!

*My apologies if you already know some of this.

1. That is not a mod, that is a hybrid.
2. Why do you want to change it anyway?
3. Lurking actually is not very optional.

Ok, i have to admit, thats really funny. But its just the olny cube I have right now, and Im trying to make it the best it can be right now. I dont know when My first C4Y order is gonna be, but I have a small list.

Mini Diansheng-my hands are small. Like really small. My cube right now is as bag as my palm (excluding fingers)
C4Y DIY Porcelain white
Old Type A II (?)

Pretty decent starter order, I'd add a few extra packs of stickers on if you're not gonna be ordering from cubesmith anytime soon. C4Y stickers suck big time. On my main cube it only took about 200 solves for them to start peeling, granted I'm a little bit rough with it.

Also, this thread may help you decide what you want:

I know I enjoy being able to be rough with my cubes and have good corner cutting abilities so I personally enjoy my Old A I a thousand times better than my C4Y. The C4Y is nice if I just want something to mess around with and not actually speed cube with, though I do love the speed of the C4Y.

Cubesmith? I heard about that but I dont thinnk Ill be ordering from them a whole lot. Ive considered the A I, but i heard it was was heavy, and like I said, my hands are very small, so Ill try for a A II

I might pass on my C4Y. I feel that I dont really need it.

yea i personally love my AI, but granted i have huge hands, granted im 6'3" so they don't seem big to me, but im told theyre huge

and cubesmith generally isnt worth it unless you're buying 3+ sets of tiles or 7-10+ sets of stickers/replacements....its free shipping anywhere in the US if your order is over 10 bucks though....granted dont expect them for a long time, i placed an order on the 14th and still have yet to receive a shipping email.

Personally, I see no reason to put too much emphasis on the weight of the cube.

It's not like you're going to be sweating after cubing 30 minutes straight, even with a Type A-I.

get the C4Y to hybrid with your C cubies.... its GODLY.... (comes second in mods to the gods hand: Ghost hand and F mod)

The C4Y hybrid is what im trying to make. I think my old C came with a type A core so all i need are the screws. My friend got a free set and Im thinking about asking him for it.

I passed on the New A III, I think Ill break it in a few weeks.

Also, I already know about that link. I faved it too.

Also, I am SMALL! Im 15 and my birthday is in a few months. And im still 4'11". You can guess how much of a hard time I get from society already.

oh damn, well you still got time to grow. i didnt even really have a growth spurt in highschool. i only grew 3 inches from freshman to senior year. i hit it big in middle school though, i grew a foot in 3 years

anyway, back on topic, c4y sells individual cores and screw/spring sets for like a buck to $1.50 combined(i know the cores are 69 cents). and i'd get an F-II too if you can, they are widely held as the best stock cube(aka unmodded) on this board.
