Does anyone not correct their cross when they're making pairs at certain points? I find this can give an easy insertion later in the F2L.

If you don't know what I'm talking about, or if I'm using the wrong name. Here's what I mean:

Scramble: R U F R' B L D F B2 F U' R L' F' U L' (White on top, green on front)

If I were to solve like this: z' U R U' R F R' F' R' x' U' R' U R U D' R U' D R' U R U'

You'll notice at the bolded part I don't repair the cross but instead solve the pair then repair the cross edge piece when I repair the other piece. This gives me an easy U R U' insertion.

Does anyone else do this?

My friend will sometimes make cross with two opposite that are wrong if it is easier than making the cross "correct". He then later fixes them at PLL (sometimes you can force PLL skip or influence PLL so that you get say, T perm instead of F perm).

Hmm, I never thought about that. I'm going to try it now.

Oh I meant.
After F2L if I get a bad OLL case or one that I just don't like, OLL 30 in the wiki for example, I correct the cross then to change it, like doing M2 U2 M2 to change OLL 30 to OLL 29.

Whooops :D

*OLL 11 sucks*

That's actually really cool.

Doing cross incorrectly giving options later on.
