Hey guys,

I'm teaching myself the ortega method (using these algs), and I wanted to know how you all turn the front face of the 2x2? I've tried looking at videos of 2x2 solves, but it looks like some of them only turn the top (U) and right (R) layers! So how do u people who solve the 2x2 sub-5 seconds turn the front face? And would you recommend learning the ortega method?

Thanks,

Matt

Normally i do F with my right index finger and F' with my right thumb. However if I'm doing an alg that includes lets say has F2 R U2 I would do a rotation (x) and do the F2 like a U2 and then instead of doing R do L, to get it back to where I was holding the cube before. That's one thing I do to make F moves faster. I struggle to explain it.

I understand exactly what you are saying. Thanks :)

Ortega is a great method. Its very low in algs, and can be very fast.
awesome, thanks ;)

Ortega is an excellent method. I average sub-4.5 with it :)

the only time when you need F is for OLL/PBLs, which depends on the case but you should get used to them cuz most of them is similar to that of 3x3.
