How to speedcubing

Eronus,

Reading the speedcubing for beginners sticky first may help.

The method you describe is the beginners' method. To do speedcubing you need the advanced method with better algorithms. But before that, you need to improve your speed even on the beginners' method with finger tricks, better cube etc.

You should use the beginners' method and be able to do 1 minute+ or at least under 2 minutes, before you are fundamentally ready to get into more advanced algorithms seriously.

The standard Fridrich method is:
1. Form cross (often at bottom)
2. Insert corner-edge pair together to complete first 2 layers (F2L)
3. Orientate all pieces at top layer (to make all same color facing up at top layer)
4. Permutate all pieces at top layer (to correctly placed all pieces at top layer)

Just to let you know how far you are behind being fundamentally ready, and this may be shocking to you, there are people who can:
- Solve the Rubik's cube in under 10 seconds
- Solve the cube with ONE hand in under 20 seconds
- Solve the cube with the FEET in under 1 minute
- Memorise AND solve the cube blindfolded both in under 2 minutes
- Solve the cube with the BEGINNER's method in under 30 sec

My average of 25-35s would make me a newbie in this forum :fp. That should show you how much there is to improve.

I know this all... My best Time is 6 :)
I cube since 3 days :)
And I will buy me a new cube because my cube is a cube with symbols an pictures...

Should I go to the Friedrich Method when I'm under 1 Minute with this method?
And is this Friedrich method from Germany??

I use fridrich. Your best time is 6? 6 seconds? or 60? or 6:00. That threw me off a bit... And don't give up. I did beginners method for about a week then went to fridrich. it will probably take you around 3 weeks to be on the minute line :D Good luck to you!

Haha like I said. You will improve each day! Then you get to a point where it gets really hard to shave time. Like 30 seconds is where I hear it starts becomming really difficult.

You mentioned that you're using a cube that has symbols and pictures... the cube might affect your solving too. Buy a better cube (DIY) and lube it.
