Scramble
The 25-move scramble was a rendered randomly by the Official World Cube Association cube scrambler, available for download here. The scramble was:

L R' B' F2 D' R' D' U' F2 L' U B2 F' L R' F U B2 U L2 R2 U L2 D U

Method: http://www.cubestation.co.uk beginner's method:
  1. Cross
  2. 1st layer
  3. 2nd layer edges
  4. Orient last layer edges(second cross in my interpretation)
  5. Permute last layer edges(permute cross IMI)
  6. Orient last layer corners
  7. Permute last layer corners(3 corner flip IMI, correct?)

Timer:
"Tyson vs. you demostration" embeded timer on http://www.rubiks.com/lvl3/index_lvl3.cfm?lan=eng&lvl1=commun&lvl2=cbegam&lvl3=compet&step=tyson#vdo.

Time taken to solve:
35.82 seconds. Personal best.

Able to:
  1. Finger-trick
  2. understand the anatomy of the cube

Problems:
  1. Learnt Toys R' Us method by Dan Knights, therefore:
    • Starts on green side, I heard its better to start from white as its most striking and visible
    • difficult to kick the habit of solving the cross and F2L side facing upwards
  2. Still using the Rubik's brand cube by Ideal Toys, not ideal for speed-cubing, although lubricated and sanded a bit, still jams frequently
  3. No time to learn full Fridrich
  4. Not enough cash to buy Stackmat timer(yet)
  5. Slow cross, about 5-8 seconds although I can solve the cross in less than 8 moves all the time
  6. Inspection time a bit too long
  7. Don't know of any other fast beginner's method to achieve sub-30 frequently, I normally achieve only sub-40

Please leave your comments and do give your advice to help me boost my timing to sub-30 levels. Thanks!

I will address each of your problems one by one:

1. It doesn't matter what color you start on, if you're going to do just one color. If you want, change to white, but it's not that important. I know several fast people who start on other colors. Yes, start with cross on bottom. I know it's hard to get used to, but it'll save you the trouble later.

2. You can purchase a DIY from http://www.rubiks.com or http://www.cube4you.com (for the latter, get more stuff to make shipping worth it)

3. That's no excuse: you had enough time to get down to sub-40.

4. You don't need a stackmat, there are applications like CCT and JNetCube for timing on the computer.

5-6. Practice, practice, practice. That's actually good that you can do <9 moves for all crosses.

7. I can easily perform sub-30 on a beginner method, but I suggest learning stuff like 4LLL (four-look last layer) and working corner on the F2L to get faster.

I have a couple questions about your method:
1. Where are the 2nd layer corners on your cube? My cube only has edges and centers in the middle layer.

2. I see you orient and permute your last layer edges, but you only orient your last layer corners. When and how do they get permuted?

@Swordsman Kirby:
I'm about to start a new academic year in Singapore, and it'll be the major examination Ordinary Levels year, so I may not have the time. In fact, I don't even know where to start...

I'll get the stackmat timer, but not yet and for the DIY cube, I know of it but the guy from http://www.sgcubers.com who mass orders from http://www.cube4you.com has already mass-ordered, so I'll have to wait when the next ordered is processed, and that depends on how many people are going to order...

@abbracadiabra:
The error "Second layer corners" corrected to "..layer edges". Added "Permute last layer corners".

Anyway, for a 35 second solve and sub-40, is it already good or can it be much better?

i am about the same speed as you but before i learnt frudrich i used this for headlights at the end: everyone uses without realising: L Di Li D L Di Li and in other cases L D Li Di L D Li but for headlights all you need to do is L Di Li D L Di Li U/Ui L D Li Di L D Li as i said i am about the same speed as you but am not very good at finger tricks, if i was i would be faster, how do you do finger tricks
