[Unofficial] Yay finally under a minute average!

Yeah! Getting better and better each day. :) look ahead is really a crucial part I'm starting to get my cube constantly moving. Got a very lucky solve of 30.27 today!

congrats. I recently started too. after a week I hit 1:02. it took me at least another 3 weeks to post a sub minute average. it gets harder and harder to shave off time.

It does :D

Being stuck at 30 is very annoying.

I'm stuck at just under sub-30 too. It's a little frustrating but I think I'm very slowly getting faster. I just got a new PB average of 5 last night, so I think that's a good sign.

Oxymoron alert!
No...think of pouring molasses. That slowly gets faster.

Hey Chris glad to hear I have another beginner with me :) we will get there my friend I'm working on slow consistent solves right now.

Any tips you find please share, I am still figuring out the small things that end up saving time. I am hoping to get to consistent sub 1 minute times by the end of the week (of course...that depends on what time I have)

Last night I did several solves but could not break 1 minute but was close. As others have said, I am sure it is a matter of practice. I took the advice of solving one F2L pair while looking ahead at the next pair, I see how it works but I need to continue to work on it. Work does not leave me much time to cube as I would like :-(

Congrats! Looks like you are light years ahead of me already...congrats!

I will work on the look-ahead...the F2L is my crutch now (OLL/PLL) I am decent and the cross I have improved so the look ahead seems key.

Haha the lucky solve was mainly f2l pairing was very easy and my bottom layer I only had to do two looks on so that's how that happened. But yes the look ahead is helping me a lot! Do you have a good cube as well?

I have a diy cube which is pretty good. I think what is holding me back is the look ahead and oll/pll recognition. I plan on working on both this week so hopefully, I will improve by the weekend.

Do you guys do genuine 2 look oll or the fishy method?

IMO, it's much easier just to learn all 7 cross algs and just do pure 2 look, in terms of OLL.

I used the images from cubezone, so the stuff in brackets is just needed so that you're doing it from the correct side : )

Forgive me, but I actually discourage these two; especially for beginners, and offer these two instead:

x' (R U' R') D (R U R') D'

chameleon.gif

x' (R U R') D (R U' R') D'

They're just as fast, easier to execute (in my experience beginners stumble with the double-wide turns), and the combination of the two yields a perfect E-Perm PLL for free:

x' (R U' R') D (R U R') D' (R U R') D (R U' R') D'

Or the E-Perm yields two free OLL's...whichever, right?

I use all the algorithms artic wolf suggested. Although tellers two look much faster for me. I struggle with F and F' my thumb is just retarded. I always have to regrip and hit it back with my ring finger :/ So maybe I should use tellers idea?

Yay dropped my average by ten seconds this week. Down to 47 keep it comming! :) I had the luckiest solve of 19 seconds as well. It's been a good week!

Aye my cross gave me one f2l pair then the last layer solved after my first look oll :) I was very excited.
