Hey guys,
I saw Paranormal Activity during a midnight showing last night and I was wondering what other people thought of the movie. There's a lot of hype about the movie because of reviews such as:
“The Scariest Movie of the Decade!” - chicagonow.com
“an ingenious horror film. It's so well made it's truly scary” - the Chicago Sun-Times
“A POTENT FRIGHTFEST that will fry your nerves and CREEP YOU OUT” - Rolling Stone
I don't want to spoil anything, so all I'm going to say is that it starts out really slow, but the suspense builds progressively. Although, when I went to see it, there were so many stupid people who talked very loudly throughout the movie that I didn't find it very scary.

However, at the end of the movie I still found it pretty frightening.
But, if you wait for it to come out on DVD and are brave enough to watch it late at night, in the dark, alone, then I think it will probably live up to the hype. ;)
So, those of you who have seen it, what did you think?

Its been years since I have seen a movie that scared me silly....( wanted to put the other S word). Maybe this will be the one.

I have not, and I hate scary movies... and action movies, and violent ones.

IMO only good movies are either tasteful comedies or musicals.

I never watch horror movies either, but made an exception because this one was supposed to be amazing.

Same here. I'm going to see it tonight, and the only reason i agreed was because it seems that its more than just jump scares. It has an actually creepy premise.

I saw this movie a couple days ago I was bored the whole time do not believe all the hype this movie was not scary.

Edit: Just wanted to say this is my opinion and I respect other peoples opinion about this movie.

sorry for the dead thread revival but i couldn't help myself. This movie sucked ass. It was one of the worst movies i've ever seen, bar none. Terrible acting, the plot was full of holes and it was probably the least frightening horror movie i've ever seen. The characters were so stupid i was rooting for the demon towards the end.

It was a very, very dissapointing movie. I don't watch scary movies, since I don't like them, but this movie wasn't at all scary. OMG, a door moved to the left, then moved again back to the right. so scary. [/sarcasm]

Very slow build up. Half of it was just very boring to watch and not all too scary. However, the realism of the production adds a bit of a scare to it and I liked how they intensified a scene. Instead of low creepy music, they used absolute silence, which sort of make your heart pound a bit faster as you wait for the suspense. I gave it a C. Scary at some parts, but very boring in most parts. I'm also very glad that the boyfriend died. He was annoying. Oh, a demon is in my house? Let me **** it off by being a complete and total idiot and ignore my scared to death girlfriend!

I saw the trailer for it's sequal. Not to sure where they're going with in this one. New demon? Old demon? New People? Is she on some killing spree? What?

Ok I'll get this movie out next week. To be honest, I don't find movies scary so much. I mean, sure maybe I'd jump if there was a sudden loud sound and something banged, but I do the same thing when there's someone behind me and I wasn't expecting it.

I think the people that didn't think this movie was scary look at it the wrong way. You're not supposed to be scared out of your wits by a long shot.
You're supposed to really think of it as a home documentary, instead of something like Saw.
The point is to at least half believe that it's real. If you don't...what's the point?

Why would you believe this is real? It's has paranormal activity. No such thing.
