What's the Best Grip for the R U R' U' Trigger?

Hello fellow cubers. This is my first post on this website and I have a general question.

I've been been practicing the R U R' U' trigger for a little while now. I've dropped my time down for doing it X6 to about 4 seconds. I've seen plenty of vids on Youtube of people doing it in sub-2 seconds. Everyone seems to grip the cube the same way, and I've been gripping it that way:

Right middle finger on the UR edge
Thumb on the DR edge.
Right index finger for the U
Left index finger for the U' while loosening your right middle finger.

It's the U' part that's awkward for me. When I get to the U' part, I tend to keep my middle finger gripped on and therefore I slow down. Does anyone have any tips/similar problems?

(I apologize if this is the wrong section to post this, but it seems like the best place to ask.)

That should probably be changed to D to avoid confusion.

Thanks for the correction Mini and Danny *embarrassed and edits first post* I just tried doing it with my thumb on BR and yeah, it's quite awkward *elbow is sticking out quite a bit*

...

*Realizes that there's an emote for embarrassment :o*

...

*Realizes that he likes speaking in 3rd person and making actions in this manner on the forums*

...

*Realizes that he is going off topic*

@ Spinz. that sounds pretty good. I just tried it and it seems like I sub-consciously put my fingers back on right after the U'.

Haha, for some reason that post made me laugh :D.

I just did a 1.40 couple seconds ago...

I used the left index finger for the U's. Right index finger is on UFR, right middle finger is on UR, right middle is on DR, right ring finger is on the back somewhere, and pinky wasn't even touching the cube.

@ Saber. You're just jealous ;) *Shifty eyes. Mumbles "You're not alone..."*

I've been practicing the trigger a bit and my new best time is 2.70 seconds. I realized that I was losing about half a second with the picking up of the cube.

I've also been practicing this new trigger. R' U R U'. It doesn't seem really useful, but I find it easier (though not faster :S) to perform. Just this random trigger I like to perform.

Thumb on UR
Middle finger on DR
Right index finger on the D sticker of the BDR (I'm pretty sure that's the right notation...) corner, ready to perform the U right after the R'.
Left index finger just the usual way you would have it, only touching the cube to do a U'.

I find it much smoother to perform. I don't have to pause at all because it's quite easy for me to keep my thumb loose on the U'. I would probably get a better time compared to R U R' U' if I was doing the trigger X24 or something.

*Runs off to another tab to try out X24. Gets 13.36 on R U R' U'. 12.52 on R' U R U' Runs back to this tab, panting*

Meh, not a big difference. Then again, I haven't practiced the latter algorithm as much.

EDIT: I just realized that this is basically R' F R F' except with a different grip. I guess it could come in handy with some OLL's. Then again, you have to do a cube rotation twice :\

R U R' U'*6 smooth: 3.53 seconds
R U R' U'*6 choppy: 3.58 seconds
R' U R U'*6 smooth: 3.31 seconds
R' U R U'*6 choppy: 3.72 seconds

We'll at least they're all sub-4. Not much difference between them though.

EDIT: Just got 3.06 for R U R' U'*6.

EDIT2: 3.03 for R U' R' U*6.

EDIT3: 2.63 for R U R' U'*6.

I see Erik do it 3x on video. It's like 1 motion. Sick!

How about (U R U' R')x3. Is it supposed to be just as fast as (R U R' U')x3? I am not as comfortable with the 1st one.

I got 3.33 after a few tries, which is just about as fast as my R U R' U'.
