How much memorised shortcut algorithms do you use vs intuitive F2L? The bad thing about algorithms is that they may be more situational, may take longer to recognise and may affect lookahead but can be executed faster.

So how much algorithms/shortcuts do you use in F2L?

Uhhhh, does VHf2l, and some ZBf2l count?
Its a shortcut during f2l?
If so, i know around 4 subsets, which is like, 30 or so cases.

With the other slots, theyre just simply tricks, such as keyhole and such.
Reminds me of erik's video. But since erik is such a celebrity, im sure youve already seen it.

i use the one in Badmephisto's video where you have the edge and corner connected, edge flipped, and both are opposite final destination.

EDIT: kinda like this 'Link' but on the opposite side of the cube.

this is pretty much what i have.

all 41 cases on Dan Harris's site and Jason Baums site.

a 2gen and 3gen alg for almost each case for partial edge control
if you count CLS algs as a shortcut i know a bunch of those

i learned a tiny bit of multislotting but im not good enough to use it in solves yet.
i use keyhole stuff to solve multiple slots at once sometimes.

thats pretty much it i think

the only one i use is the one from the beginners method where to corner is already in the slot, and only the edge remains

Oh the 5 move one, it's fun.

Oh I have not seen Erik's Video as I am still learning stuff. I should check it out. Where?

What is keyhole? Is it like you have edge or corner piece correctly placed and you put the other piece in?

For this one I use (RUR'U')x3, or R2UR2UR2U2R2. It's actually longer but more for finger-tricks.

I do use an algorithm from the video that has 2 pieces connected at the bottom and he does something like F'L'U2LF RUR'.

What is CLS?

Multislotting is tough to recognize! I hope I never need to use it. I'll probably spend 1 minute recognising one.

I use maybe three or four. erik's video is very useful it really helped me.

the latest shortcut I learnt was R U' R U2 R2 U' R2 U' R2 and it's LU mirror.

Those cases gave me a lot of problems and this is so much quicker to perform and easy to recognize.

I still have a long way to go though. Next I want to learn the cases where the corner and edge are connected on U but white is facing up. I think one is the first case on erik's video.
