Hi all. As of late I have been noticing that my solve times are fluctuating rather randomly. I am now starting to average at around 34 seconds consistently. HOWEVER. I am noticing that, maybe, every 4 -5 solves I am hitting times like 27. 26 and even 21 seconds on one occasion (PB)

:eek::eek:

I’ve been slowing down allot recently to work on my look ahead, but can’t seem to reduce my session averages below 34 seconds. Does anyone have any other tips on how to stay below 30 secs consistently? :)

Cheers

R

yeah, took long enough though. just cant seem to beat my 34 sec average. its a pain in the ass. Granted there are some OLL's i cant QUITE remember on the spot but i know the majority by heart

I would practice all my PLL's and not actually use all the OLL's, as they take too much time to recognize (Seriously, I only know 30~ish and I average 24)
2 Look OLL is better than full OLL if you can't recognize the cases.
I would seriously practice the PLL's, I'm still doing it even now =)

EDIT: (I started right before you posted this)

EXACTLY MY POINT!!!
I would say "Told ya so" but that would be mean.
The times for your recognition are probably what's holding you up.

seems logical enough, i have tried looking for a pll timer but i cant find one. if i can get my ll down to 6 seconds then im good to get decent times. My f2l generaly wors out at between 18-20 seconds. im to scared to go to competition yet because i wont place. hoping to get to the uk masters next year, hopefully bythen i will average about 18-20 with relentless practice.

cross - 8-10
f2l - 8-10
oll - 3-7
pll 3-7

Your cross times are terrible :fp

I mean you are suppose to do it in 3 seconds max

Look at badmephistos cross video it may help

I know, ive just started solving the cross on the bottom again. i was out of practice for a bit as i was working away. ill check it out again

Yeah, try decreasing your cross times by finding the fastest and fewest moves possible for each cross you do. Also, working on f2l always help. Make sure to slow down and look ahead every solve. That is what helped me!

I only know 20 ish and I average 16 :p:D

Back on topic:
Your cross times are yes, pretty bad. I would also recommend looking at badmephisto's cross videos. http://www.youtube.com/badmephisto

The rest of the F2L actually isn't that bad, IMO for your level it's pretty good.

Full OLL and it takes you up to 7 seconds? Either work on recognition or just stick with 2 Look OLL.

Full PLL takes you up to 7 seconds? Work on recognition too, you should stay with full PLL though.

I would work on the steps in the following order
1. Cross
2. OLL or PLL
3. F2L

I think you may be mistaken about your times. The *max* time from your breakdown would be 34 seconds and an average between the extrema would yield around a 28 second average. Several of the online timers will do breakdowns for you, try them out and get some measurements rather than estimates.
