hello sir/mam,

i would like to ask about what is the ideal position of PLL for execution? as i solve my PLL with AUF (if necessary) then PLL then AUF (if necessary).

cuz when i started learning PLL. all the PLL guide is using arrows as to where the color go. that what i learn and that what i did. there is no mention i have to align the last layer first before i execute the algs.

and after a couple of months after i learn all 21 PLL that i found out from other cuber i met here in my country they actually adjust to the specific location or to the correct position before they execute PLL algs.

but when i try to do it, it's very awkward or not comfortable especially on the re-grip and cube rotation. so i avoided it and continue doing what i have learned.

but when i'm trying to get a consistent sub20 as i'm struggling for more than a half year of sub25. i found out after watching a lot of video and even WR video and also watching my fellow country men solving the cube they were actually fast even though they adjust the PLL for the position then rotate the cube and then re-grip for the execution.

what i'm asking for opinion is do you advice i switch to this PLL execution or stay with what i've already learned??? is how i execute my pll fast already and just practice more?

thanks in advance. appreciate any opinion. hehehehehhe... :D:D:D

The difference between the two techniques is negligible accroding to me.

Just practice every PLL to execute them under 3s then 2s.

What is AUF
AUF, is an abbrevation for adjust upper face or adjust U face. It is an adjustment turn used as the last thing to do in many LBL's (and other) methods. Sometimes it is done before any of the last steps, like it is done in PLL or COLL to speed up recognition.

Spaniard, your explanation is incomplete!

Before steps it's not just done for easier recognition but also for not having to learn four times as many algorithms or having to rotate the entire cube.

@StefanPochmann... thanks. i will take this chance to ask you directly.

do you think i switch my method of solving the PLL??? or should i stay with what i'm doing currently???

as deadalnix suggest i should practice PLL execution. well i average 5x.xx or sub1min on PLL execution. it is not fast yet.

but i'm talking on the actual solve. it is all differ. the recognition, the AUF, cube rotation, re-grip and execution.

do you think the way i solve the PLL is okay???

thanks in advance. appreciate your opinion.
