Please be sure to select one of the last two options!

I use the Big Cubes method for 5x5 but I'm curious to see if people use the same method for 4x4 and 5x5.. Since it seems to me that AvG would be much faster on 4x4 than just random pairing, so I'm curious to see what others do..

And I'm aware there are many types of 4x4 edge pairing methods such as 3/6 at a time, and there are different orders like 2-2-2-2-2-2 and 6-3-2 etc (those are probably wrong but you know what I mean)

I'm just trying to distinguish if people use random pairing like Big Cubes or they use some kind of 2/3/6 "at a time" method.

Lol yes I'm assuming most people use Big Cubes for 6 and 7.. :o
But thanks :p

A rather poor assumption.

k4? Reducing to 4x4/5x5 then AvG? Those are the only alternatives I can think of and I doubt many people use them

Edit: Judging by the poll so far.. It seems like most people do BC 5x5 and AvG 4x4, as I thought :p

I put bigcubes for 4x4, but I'm really not sure if my edge-pairing method deserves that title. I pair 2 at a time, and try to use a fixed buffer, but that rarely works out nicely on 4x4, and I tend to end up pairing what I see. I would prefer to call this "freestyle", but my guess is that by "bigcubes method" you mean exactly that.

Yes I would consider Freestyle/slice and Big Cubes the same thing

AVG for 4x4x4, 5x5x5, 6x6x6, 7x7x7, and gigaminx.

I can see where big cubes is probably better than AVG for >5x5x5, but I'm about a minute slower with the big cubes method on 7x7x7, on average. Then again, I rarely ever practice it. And I use AVG for the last 4 edges even then.

AVG is particularly nice for gigaminx. (I'd love to try it on a real puzzle someday.)
